매일 크리스마스를 누리는 것이 구원의 축복입니다.

 

크리스마스는 한국어로 성탄절(聖誕節), 프랑스어로 '노엘'(Noël), 독일어로 '바이나흐튼'(Weihnachten), 스페인어로 '나비닷'(Navidad)이라 합니다. 크리스마스를 신약교회에서 지키게 된 것은 로마의 주교 율리오 1세가 AD 350년에 12월 25일을 예수님의 탄신을 기념하는 날로 정해 매년 기념하게 되었습니다. 그런데 12월 25일이 예수님 탄신일이 아니라고 주장하는 단체들도 많습니다. 다들 맞는 말이기도 하고 틀린 말이기도 합니다. 왜냐하면 365일 매일매일이 크리스마스이기 때문입니다. 아담의 크리스마스는 하나님께서 약속하신 동정녀의 후손으로 오실 그리스도를 통해 구원해 주시겠다는 언약(창세기3:15)을 믿는 고백에서 시작되었습니다. 그 고백의 응답으로 하나님께서 직접 가죽옷을 지어 입히시던 날(창세기 3:21)부터 아담의 크리스마스 예배가 피 제사로 시작된 것입니다.

 

1. 아담과 함께 모든 사람은 원죄를 범하고 영원한 지옥 형벌을 선고받았습니다.

본래 모든 사람은 하나님의 형상으로 창조되었습니다. 항상 하나님과 함께하며 하나님의 청지기로 쓰임 받는 최고의 존재였습니다. 그런데 아담과 함께 모든 사람이 ‘창조 언약인 선악과를 따먹으면 너희가 하나님처럼 될 수 있다’라는 마귀의 거짓에 속아 선악과를 따먹고 하나님께 반역하게 된 것입니다. 반역하는 순간 창조 언약이 깨지며 모든 만물이 저주 가운데 빠지게 되었고, 아담과 함께 모든 사람은 영원한 지옥 형벌을 선고받게 된 것입니다. 영원한 존재로 창조된 사람이 죽는다는 것은 마귀와 같이 영원한 지옥 형벌에 처함을 의미하는 것이겠지요. 하나님의 형상인 각 사람이 자신의 형상으로 변하여 내가 나의 주인 노릇을 하는 것이 원죄의 결과입니다. 

 

2. 사람에게는 누구나 그리스도를 구주로 모시고 구원받을 수 있는 길이 열려있습니다.

하나님께서는 원죄에 빠져 영원한 지옥 형벌을 선고받은 우리 각 사람을 사랑하사 동정녀의 후손을 통해 구원하시겠다는 그리스도 언약을 세워주신 것입니다(창세기 3:15). 아담 이후 모든 믿는 사람들은 그리스도 언약을 믿는 믿음의 고백으로 피 제사를 드리며 그리스도를 구주로 모시고 구원받아 그리스도를 따르는 삶을 살 수 있게 된 것입니다. 때가 이르매 그리스도 언약을 세워주신 하나님께서 직접 육신을 입으시고 동정녀의 몸을 통해 그리스도로 이 땅에 오셨습니다. 오대양 육대주의 중심인 가나안 땅에 이스라엘 민족을 통해 오신 그리스도가 바로 예수님이십니다. 아담으로부터 구약과 신약의 모든 믿는 자들의 죄를 대속해 주시고자 십자가에 못 박혀 죽으시고 사흘 만에 부활하시어 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 되찾으시고 지금도 살아계십니다. 이 예수 그리스도께서 전도자들을 통해 계시록3:20절 “볼찌어다 내가 문밖에 서서 두드리노니 누구든지 내 음성을 듣고 문을 열면 내가 그에게로 들어가 그로 더불어 먹고 그는 나로 더불어 먹으리라”고 말씀하시며 각 사람의 마음의 문을 두드리시는 것을 복음(Good News)이라 합니다. 내가 나의 주인이 되어 내 맘대로 사는 것이 원죄임을 깨닫고 회개하여 예수 그리스도를 구주로 영접하면(요한복음 1:12) 원죄와 지옥 형벌에서 사면복권 받아 하나님의 자녀로 거듭나게 됩니다. 그리스도를 구주로 영접하여 모시면 그에게 성탄이 임하며 크리스마스가 시작되는 것입니다. 

 

3. 믿는 사람은 매일 그리스도를 모시고 크리스마스를 누리는 것이 신앙생활입니다.

그리스도는 하나님의 언약의 말씀이요 이 말씀이 성경 66권을 통해 오늘 우리에게 주어졌습니다. 예수 그리스도를 구주로 영접하여 구원받은 사람은 주님이 교회 강단을 통해 주시는 말씀을 붙들고 주님 따르는 삶을 사는 신앙생활을 하게 됩니다. 주님과 말씀은 하나이십니다. 그러기 때문에 말씀 인도를 받는다면 반드시 하나님의 응답이 따라오게 되어 있습니다. 히브리서4:12절에 이 말씀의 특징은 살았고 운동력이 있는 말씀이라 하셨습니다. 아브라함을 부르셨을 때, “어디, 어디로 가라” 하시지 않고 “내가 네게 지시할 땅으로 가라” 하셨습니다. 이 말은 평생 하나님의 말씀 따라 살라는 것입니다. 이것이 믿는 자의 행함이요, 신앙생활입니다. 야고보는 이처럼 행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 것이라 하였습니다. 그리스도 언약 붙들고 인도받았던 요셉은 이스라엘과 애굽과 세계를 살리는 일에 쓰임 받았습니다. 그리스도 언약 놓치고 내가 나의 주인이 되어 내 맘대로 살았던 이스라엘은 애굽의 노예로 전락했었습니다. 4백 년이 지난 후 그리스도 언약 붙든 요게벳을 통해 모세가 출생하였고, 하나님이 모세에게 나타나셔서 80년 만에 하신 말씀이 있습니다. “전 이스라엘을 데리고 피 제사드리러 가라(출애굽기3:18)”는 것입니다. 그러면 “전능하신 하나님이신 내가 능한 손으로 너와 함께 하겠다”고 약속하셨습니다. 주신 말씀 붙들고 모세처럼 다윗처럼 주님 따르면 매일 크리스마스의 축복을 누리는 것입니다. 다윗은 어릴 적부터 양치는 목동을 하면서 교회를 통해 받은 말씀을 땅 위에 써보고 읽어보고 암송하면서 노래로 만들어 부를 만큼 묵상했었습니다.

 

그런데 오늘날 대부분 기독교인들이 신앙생활을 잘 못 하는 이유가 받은 말씀 따라가야 하는데 그걸 잘 못 하는 것으로 파악되고 있습니다. 기독교인들이 하나님께서 주시는 말씀 따라가지 않으면 아무래도 내 중심으로 갈 수밖에 없고, 내 생각대로 가다 보면 내 주장을 해야 합니다. 그러다 보면 교인 각 사람이 말로서 말이 많아지며 분란이 생기며 상처를 주고받을 수밖에 없지요. 그 결과 기독교인들이 천국 문을 가로막고 사는 심각한 문제가 생기는 것입니다. 앞으로 여러분 모두는 살아계신 주 예수께서 주시는 말씀을 붙들고 묵상할 때마다 임하는 크리스마스의 축복이 매일 누려지시기 바랍니다.

Enjoying Christmas Every Day Is the Blessing of Salvation.

 

Christmas is called “Sung-tan-jul (The Holy Birthday)” in Korean, “Noël” in French, “Weihnachten” in German, and “Navidad” in Spanish. Christmas was observed in the New Testament Church every year when Bishop Julius I of Rome designated December 25th as the day to commemorate the birth of Jesus in 350 AD. However, there are many organizations that claim that December 25th is not the birthday of Jesus. This is both true and wrong. Because every day, 365 days a year, is Christmas. Adam's Christmas began with his confession of belief in God's covenant promise (Genesis 3:15) that he would be saved through Christ, who would come as the woman’s offspring. In response to that confession, Adam's Christmas worship began with a blood sacrifice from the day God personally made and clothed him with leather clothes (Genesis 3:21).

 

1. Together with Adam, all people committed original sin and were sentenced to eternal punishment in hell.

Originally, all people were created in the image of God. Man was the best being who was always with God and was used as God's steward. However, along with Adam, all people were deceived by the devil's lie that “if you eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (which is the covenant of creation), you can become like God,” and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and rebelled against God. The moment of rebellion, the covenant of creation was broken, all creation fell into curse, and all people, along with Adam, were sentenced to eternal punishment in hell. For a person who was created as an eternal being, to die would mean that he would be punished in eternal hell like the devil. The result of original sin is that each person, who is the image of God, changed into his own image and became his own master. 

 

2. The way is open to anyone to receive salvation by accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior.

God loved each of us, who fell into original sin and was sentenced to eternal punishment in hell, and established the covenant with Christ to save us through the woman’s offspring (Genesis 3:15). Since Adam, all believers have been able to offer blood sacrifices as a confession of faith in the covenant of Christ, accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, be saved, and live a life of following Christ. When the time came, God, who established the Christian covenant, took on a physical body Himself and came to this earth as Christ through the body of a virgin. Jesus is the Christ who came through the Israelites to the land of Canaan, the center of the five oceans and six continents. To atone for the sins of all believers in the Old and New Testaments from Adam, He was crucified, died, and was resurrected three days later to regain all authority in heaven and earth, and is still alive today. This Jesus Christ speaks through evangelists as written in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” The knocking on the door of the heart is called the Gospel (Good News). If you realize that becoming your own master and living as you please is the original sin, repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 1:12), you will be pardoned from the original sin and the punishment of hell and be reborn as a child of God. If you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and serve Him, Christmas dwells within him and the life of everyday-Christmas begins.

 

3. For those who believe, serving Christ every day and enjoying Christmas is the walk of faith.

Christ is the Word of God's covenant, and this Word has been given to us today through the 66 books of the Bible. Those who are saved by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior lead a life of faith by holding on to the Word the Lord gives through the church pulpit and following the Lord. The Lord and the Word are one. Therefore, if you receive guidance from the Word, God's answer will surely follow. Hebrews 4:12 says that the characteristic of this Word is that it is alive and has power. When God called Abraham, He did not say, “Go to [name of region].” but, “Go to the land I will show you.” This means you must live according to the Word of God for the rest of your life. This is the act of a believer and the life of faith. James said that faith without works is dead. Joseph, who held on to the covenant of Christ and was guided, was used to save Israel, Egypt, and the world. Israel, who missed the covenant of Christ and became their own master and lived as they pleased, fell into slavery in Egypt. After 400 years, Moses was born through Jochebed, who held onto the covenant of Christ, and God appeared to Moses and spoke these words for the first time in 80 years: “Take all of Israel out to offer blood sacrifices to the LORD (Exodus 3:18).” Then He promised, “I, Almighty God, will be with you with a mighty hand.” If you hold on to the Word He gave you and follow the Lord like Moses and David, you will enjoy the blessings of Christmas every day. From an early age, David worked as a shepherd and meditated on the Word he received through the church by writing them on the ground, reading them, reciting them, and singing them into songs.

 

However, it is believed that the reason most Christians today are not good at living their walk of faith is because they do not follow the Word they have received. If Christians do not follow the Word given by God, they will have no choice but to be centered on themselves; and if they follow their own thoughts, they will have to assert their own opinions. As a result, each member of the church becomes talkative, causes conflict, and inevitably hurts one another. As a result, a serious problem of Christians living while blocking the gate of heaven happens. From now on, I hope that all of you will enjoy the blessings of Christmas every day as you hold on to and meditate on the Word of the living Lord Jesus.
