Exodus 3

Moses’ Decision and God’s Guidance (Exodus 2:11-25)

When Moses was 40 years old, he decided to give up his status as a prince and suffer with God's people.

This is a decision to willingly sacrifice himself for the kingdom of God. This was Moses' decision of faith to value God's glory

more than his own wealth and glory. So what can we learn from Moses’ decision of faith? We learn that we must be willing

to give up everything for Christ, no matter how beneficial it may be. (Philippians 3:7-14)

1. Moses chose the way for Israel rather than the prince of Egypt

1) Moses grew into the most talented person of his time in all fields.

2) Moses, who was 40 years old, had the potential to become the king of Egypt in the future.

3) Moses was raised by Jochebed, his mother and nurse during his childhood (verse 9).

4) Moses' murder of the Egyptian was a mistake he made when he tried to do it on his own.

2. Moses was wanted as a murderer and became a fugitive.

1) He tried to become a protector of the oppressed Hebrews, but failed.

2) Moses abandoned all wealth and glory and entered the path of suffering.

3) This means that he willingly chose the path of suffering for Christ.

4) Moses thought worldly wealth and glory were “the pleasures of sin.”(Heb11:25)

3. Moses held on to the covenant but entered wilderness school.

1) Walking the path of faith requires many decisions.

2) People who live as their own masters make decisions that are beneficial to themselves.

3) The Lord protects the steps of believers who make a decision of faith and move forward.

4) However, God’s time was not ripe for Moses and Israel.

Conclusion: God ripens the time for the Exodus

1) Moses was not ready yet, but neither were the enslaved Hebrews.

2) Moses became a shepherd who cared for his flock for 40 years and received training in prayer.

3) After 40 years, the Israelites finally cried out to God (verse 23).

4) God was pursuing a plan to save the children of Israel (verse 25)

Rather than waiting for God's will and acting cautiously, Moses tried to do something with his own blood and ability.

His arrogant and careless behavior directly led to him entering the Midian Desert and undergoing thorough training

to humble himself through 40 years of life as a shepherd. We should not try to decide and do something on our own,

but rather ask God's will and act according to it. May you always be sensitive to the Lord’s guidance!!
