Exodus 17.

Passover Night and Exodus (Exodus 12:29-51)

In today's text, God's judgment called the Firstborn Disaster finally comes upon Egypt. God's judgment on Egypt brought

opposite results to the Egyptians and the Israelites. While the Egyptians suffered great sorrow over the death of their eldest son,

the Israelites actually enjoyed the joy of being liberated from slavery in Egypt. Likewise, in God's final judgment,

the eternal punishment of hell that has already been sentenced will be executed on those who lived as their own masters,

while the blessed and eternal life of the new heaven and new earth will be opened to the righteous who repented

and lived according to Christ as their savior.

1. God’s answer to Pharaoh who asked who Jehovah was

1) God, who had urged repentance through nine plagues, brought down the final plague.

2) This shows the nature of God's judgment that will come on the last day of this world.

3) No one except those who are in Christ can escape the judgment of destruction.

4) The gospel, the only way to salvation, is the crossroads between life and death.

2. Pharaoh and Egypt unconditionally surrender to God and Israel

1) In verse 33, all the Egyptians are surrendering.

2) The reason why the attitude of the Egyptian people changed like this was because they saw the power of the true God.

3) Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, surrenders unconditionally and forces the Israelites and all their livestock to leave.

4) When the Israelites left Egypt, numerous people from different tribes came out together (verse 38).

3. Passover (Feast of Unleavened Bread) regulations that allow for forgiveness from judgment

1) God gave the Israelites guidance to survive this disaster.

2) The only place to hide now is in Christ, who is the Passover lamb.

3) The intention of the Passover regulations is to pass on the covenant to children and descendants.

4) God struck all the firstborn sons of Egypt that night (29-30).

Conclusion: Israel Became God’s Army Through Passover

1) When Jacob entered Egypt, there were 70 people who came down with him.

2) At that time, Egypt was the most powerful country in the ancient Near East.

3) God gives us victory today in the same way.

4) We must believe and rejoice in our victory confirmed in Christ.

Israel gained a new identity through Passover, the night that God protected and the experience of salvation.

They have begun a new life as God's army. As the victorious army of Christ, life that removes the leaven that is centered

on me and the world is not just a matter of Passover week, but is a principle that should be applied to the entire life of living

new life in Christ. The seven days from Passover to the next Sabbath represent all the remaining life after receiving new life.

This does not mean that we must live in holiness without yeast for only the 7 days of Unleavened Bread, but that we must

continue to live according to the regulations of the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. I pray that you will hold

on to and enjoy 3 todays the basics of being a soldier of Christ and that you will always be victorious.
