Exodus 18.

Do Not Let Any Yeast Be Seen (Exodus 13:1-10)

The night when God brought the tenth plague on Egypt was a day of terrible disaster that Egypt would never forget.

All the firstborn sons of Egypt, including Pharaoh's firstborn son, and the firstborn of their livestock all died, and there was

a loud howl in Egypt. The stubborn Pharaoh, who wanted to use Israel as slaves until the end, had no choice but to surrender

under the mighty hand of God. Finally, Israel came out of Egypt after living in Egypt for 430 years, and was no longer called

the ‘army of Jehovah’ rather than the slaves of Egypt. Before sending out the tenth plague, God had already spoken through

Moses that the feasts of the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread would be observed. And now, God emphasizes to

the children of Israel, who have just come out of Egypt, once again telling them to keep the feasts of the Passover

and the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

1. Consecrate and dedicate to Me all the firstborn (verses 1-2)

1) This is God’s command to always remember that Israel belongs to God.

2) The children of Israel saw the disaster that God brought upon Egypt.

3) They realized that they became the property of a Holy God.

4) After Exodus, Israel did not immediately enter the land of Canaan.

2. The basics of Israel’s exodus as God’s army

1) For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, nothing with yeast in it is to be seen among you, nor shall any yeast be seen anywhere within your borders.

2) Anyone who eats leavened bread for a week will be cut off from Israel.

3) In this way, during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, people had to eat unleavened bread thoroughly with a fearful heart.

4) The Feast of Unleavened Bread was a feast celebrated by the entire family, with parents and children.

3. The life of a believer who has been saved by accepting Christ as his savior

1) We have become a holy people belonging to God, just like the Israelites.

2) From now on, throw away the yeast that is centered on you, and hold on to 3 todays and follow the Lord.

3) It was emphasized that leavened bread and yeast should not be seen around them for 7 days.

4) Now, God is asking us to live a holy life as His people.

Conclusion: God always protects us, his children.

1) God led the Israelites as a ‘pillar of cloud’ during the day and as a ‘pillar of fire’ at night.

2) It was protected from the hot sun of the desert and the rapidly falling cold at night.

3) In this way, God completely protects his people even in harsh environments.

4) The Lord said to be with you always, until the end of the world.

When Moses leaves Egypt, he brings Joseph's bones with him. This is because when Joseph left a will to his descendants,

he said, “God will surely visit you, and you must take my skull with you from here.” Even though 400 years had passed,

the fact that Joseph's will was remembered shows that the covenant that Joseph held on to was passed down to Israel

and Moses.

Now the journey of Exodus has begun. If the Israelites take the Philistine path (shortcut), they will have to go to war,

so it is clear that the weak Israelites will regret it and return to Egypt. So God led them through the wilderness,

albeit a long way (17-18). God “went before” them and guided them day and night as a pillar of cloud during the day

and as a pillar of fire at night (21-22). The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire did not leave the Israelites.

God, who knows us best, guides our path in the best way.

I pray in the name of the Lord that your future life will be as the victorious army of the Lord,

and that you will hold on to 3 todays and always be victorious.
