Exodus 27

Detailed Laws Given Following the Ten Commandments (Exodus 21:1-11)

For those who are their own masters and live as servants of the world, all neighbors around them are bound to be objects of

competition for survival. Israel, who came out of Egypt with the blood of the Passover lamb, was a slave in Egypt,

but became Jehovah's army and entered 40 years of wilderness training. Following the Ten Commandments,

God gave Moses specific laws. God's law given after the Ten Commandments is called the 'Book of the Covenant' and

continues until chapter 23, verse 33. These commandments that God gives through Moses help God's people realize

the reason why they must become people of Christ. This law reveals God's character, that is, what God is like,

and contains the reason why God's people must always hold on to Christ.

1. Among the detailed laws to be established before the people, the law regarding male servants

1) Self-centered people need the law because each person lives according to what is right in his or her own opinion.

2) In verse 2, laws are first enacted to protect the weak people.

3) Deuteronomy 15:12-14 commands to send them off with severance pay after 6 years.

4) The core of this law is ‘consideration’ for the the weak and difficult neighbors.

2. The law regarding female servants who had no economic power (verses 7-11)

1) This law may seem to discriminate against women, but it is actually considerate of women.

2) In ancient societies, parents in poverty often sold their daughters.

3) In verse 8, although the woman was purchased, she would be protected in any case.

4) Verse 11 says, “If the promise has not been kept, let the woman go out for free.”

3. Laws on crimes punishable by death (verses 12-17)

1) Those who kill people, those who hit or curse their parents, and those who kidnap people are subject to the death penalty.

2) These four are sins that destroy the foundation for the maintenance of the Israel community.

3) We must understand that the basic order of the community and the authority of parents are of utmost importance.

4) We must treat each and every person as if they were of the highest value.

Conclusion: Provisions for compensation for those who cause injury (verses 28-36)

1) The basic idea of compensation provisions for injuries is to prevent recurrence of crime.

2) Believers should not seek the right to revenge but should be able to forgive generously.

3) Only people like this can experience and enjoy God’s grace.

4) God the Father who is good takes care of us in Christ.

A person who lives as his own master can never keep this law of God. That is why God established the covenant of Christ.

The Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled all the promises and laws of the Old Testament through his atoning death on the cross.

In the Old Testament, the way to live together with Christ as our Savior was through blood sacrifice.

In the New Testament, it is to accept and serve the Lord in Revelation 3:20 as in John 1:12.

This Lord has been resurrected and is now with us who believe. We must thoroughly compensate for the damage we have

done to our neighbors in our lives, but we hope that we can maintain a good relationship by covering the damage or

mistakes our neighbors have made to us with love in the Lord. We do not live to avoid loss, but to live as those who attend

and walk with the Lord Jesus Christ in any situation. I pray in the name of the Lord that you will hold on 3 todays

and enjoy a perfect walk with the Lord and victory.
