Exodus 28.

The Life of the Saved Who Lives by Holding on to the Word (Exodus 22:20-31)

The Book of Exodus can be summarized as ‘Exodus’ and ‘Law.’ The Exodus is God's salvation from slavery in Egypt through

the blood of the Passover lamb. The law contains the principles and code of ethics for life as the saved people of God.

In this way, the law is precious because it contains God's deep will for His people. When God gave the Israelites

the Ten Commandments, he gave them the most important general rules.

Exodus 20:1-2 says, “God (the Word) spoke all these words, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God,

who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.’”

1. The reason why God, who is the Word, gave the Word (Law)

1) Originally, humans are beings created in the image of God who live by the Word of God.

2) The relationship between Israel and God is restored through confession of faith in the covenant of Christ.

3) There is no need for a law of reciprocity between people who are not in a relationship.

4) God values the order of the church community.

2. The Word became flesh and fulfilled the law

1) All our problems are over because the Lord has atoned for all our sins (John 19:30).

2) Even though we live as a Christian, our old self may keep coming back to us.

3) The cross is God’s love for us and divine order.

4) The spirit of the law is needed until the Lord returns.

3. The law leads believers to Christ

1) We have already been freed from sin through Jesus Christ.

2) Believers have a duty and responsibility to protect plants, animals, and nature and to take care of the weak.

3) John 8:32 says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

4) The Lord wants to use us to evangelize the region and the world.

Conclusion: God wants a holy life that is distinct from the world

1) The purpose of the law is the maintenance and peace of the community.

2) God commanded us to help the socially weak people rather than harm them.

3) The text shows where and what God is interested in.

4) Holiness is a life that only those who are one with Christ can enjoy.

A community of people who fear God in Christ must flow with love for one another. God does not want a life that follows

material things, but a life that follows love. We must meditate on where God's interest is directed in the text.

God is looking at the poor, orphans, widows, and other vulnerable people in society. Because God is merciful.

That is why He saved the Israelites who were living as slaves in Egypt, and He also saved us who are now receiving the Word

together. So where should our interest in serving God be? Rather than looking at the world to gain more, on the contrary,

live a life looking at the marginalized in the world and spreading God's love to them.

I pray that in the Lord you will lead many people to the path of salvation through a life of love for God and love for neighbors.
