Exodus 34

Laws Concerning Priestly Duties and Garments(Exodus 28:1-5 )

The “blood sacrifice,” a confession of faith in the covenant of Christ, has been offered since the time of Adam.

Blood sacrifices were offered during the time of Noah, and during the time of Abraham, altars were built and blood sacrifices

were offered. However, while Israel lived in Egypt for 400 years, they were reduced to slavery in Egypt; and although

they grew into a large nation, the covenant of Christ through blood sacrifice faded from their thoughts.

God allowed Israel to experience the Exodus after putting on the blood of the Passover lamb through Moses.

He then held a ceremony to sign the renewed Christ covenant with the Israelites who had come out of Egypt,

and they took the Eucharist together. Afterwards, God gave them laws centered on the Ten Commandments

and had them build a tabernacle, opening the way to enjoy the blessings of Immanuel through Christ.

Today's passage talks about the priestly duties serving in the tabernacle and the regulations regarding

the garments the priests must wear.

1. Priests serving in the tabernacle

1) God appointed Aaron as the high priest and his sons as priests.

2) Even in today’s church, positions are held only by God’s sovereign grace.

3) Apostle Paul also confessed, “I am what I am by the grace of God.”

4) The mission of the church is to serve and carry out the tasks assigned to us as members of the same body.

2. Regulations for priestly garments

1) The clothes worn by priests were special garments designed by God.

2) They placed pebbles called “Urim” and “Thummim” in the breastpiece for making decisions and asked God’s will.

3) The names of the twelve tribes were engraved on onyx stones and attached to the shoulders of the ephod.

4) “Robe of Ephod,” “tunic of fine linen,” “turban of fine linen,” “breastpiece,” “sash.”

3. The priesthood and its garments also symbolize Christ.

1) All the words of the Old Testament are also records about Christ who will come as the second Adam.

2) Hebrews 4:14 introduces Jesus as our high priest.

3) Now, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God’s throne in the Holy of Holies in heaven for us.

4) All saints have been clothed with Jesus Christ, who completed the position of high priest.

Conclusion: Our lives established as royal priesthood

1) Today’s passage is completed with the words of 1 Peter 2:9 for us who live today.

2) 1 Peter 2:9 refers to us who believe in Jesus Christ as royal priesthood.

3) Galatians 3:27.

4) God accepts us who is in Christ with love and joy.

As believers, we have become precious children loved by God the Father in Jesus Christ. All of this is possible because Jesus,

our great high priest, died a ransom death on the cross and was resurrected, opening the way to complete salvation for us.

We who believe this have become people of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord wants us to boldly come before the holy God

every day and live while enjoying the blessings of the heavenly throne. I hope that every time the old rags of me-centeredness

and world-centeredness appear, you crucify them and live always clothed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope you always live as a person of Christ and a child of God the Father.

I pray that you and I will be used as royal priesthood for the people around us who are entrusted to us for evangelism

and missions while we are staying in this world of darkness.
