선거는 국민의 주권이지만 교회는 기도해야 합니다.

 

 반만년의 한국 역사를 돌이켜 보면 고조선 단군왕검때는 주변을 홍익인간 정신으로 지도하며 이끌었던 나라였습니다. 그러나 단군과 천제를 올렸던 고인돌의 흐름이 희미해지면서 급기야 세계에서 최 빈국이요 저주받은 나라가 되어버렸습니다. 그러나 서구 선교사들을 통해 복음을 받아들인 한국은 달라지기 시작했습니다. 6.25 전쟁이후 우리 한국과 미국의 한미상호방위조약은 하나님의 은혜로 주신 최고의 안전장치가 아닐 수 없습니다. 분단 70년이 지나며 교회 말살 정책을 편 북한과 기독교 입국론을 편 남한과의 차이가 어떠한지를 전 세계가 알게 되었습니다. 오늘날 경제전쟁으로 코너에 몰린 중공이 벼랑 끝에 몰린 북한을 이용하여 무슨 일을 벌일지 충분히 짐작이 가는 시점에서 한국은 또다시 대선을 앞두고 있습니다. 주권을 가진 국민은 고종의 선택이나 이승만의 선택중 하나를 골라야 할 것입니다. 그런 와중에 4·15선거를 비롯한 여러 선거가 부정선거였다는 주장과 증거들이 많습니다. 만약 부정선거로 밝혀진다면 국회의원 선거도 다시 해야 할 것입니다. 국가의 선거를 부정선거로 이끌어 정권을 장악하려 한다면 이건 이미 거대한 악이 복음을 가로막고 공산 전체주의로 가려 하는 일이기 때문에 전 성도들이 합심하여 기도해야 할 제목이 아닐 수 없습니다. 그러나 명심할 것은 하나님이신 예수께서도 전쟁 국가 로마와 악한 노예제도, 복음을 가로막는 유대교를 향해 반기를 들지 아니하시고 주어진 사역만 잘 감당하셨다는 사실입니다. 

 

1. 세계 역사의 흐름은 복음 전파의 흐름과 같이 흘러갑니다. 

 복음 전파를 중심으로 세계 역사가 진행된다는 사실을 교회가 깨닫지 못하면 역행의 암흑기가 도래하였습니다. 유대인의 역사나 중세 카톨릭의 역사를 보면 짐작할 수 있지요. 우리 개개인이 잠시 목숨을 사는 이 땅의 삶은 나그네와 행인 같은 삶이기 때문에 영원한 생명을 사는 새 하늘과 새 땅을 위해 복음에 관심을 집중해야 합니다. 세계 최빈국인 상태에서 나라까지 빼앗겨버렸던 한국이 어떤 연고로 새로운 나라를 세우고 세계 10위권 이내까지 진입하였습니까? 우상숭배 하며 무속에 찌들어 살았던 조선 백성 중 많은 이들이 하나님의 특별한 은혜로 구원받아 하나님의 자녀가 되었고, 새벽기도와 성미, 주일학교와 선교 중심교회로 세워져 나왔습니다. 단일 국가로는 미국 다음으로 선교사를 가장 많이 파송하는 나라가 되었습니다. 그러면서 나 중심, 내 교회 중심의 단계로 흑암 세력이 파고들며 코로나 팬데믹 시대가 도래했습니다. 국내 교회나 선교 현지의 교회들이 힘을 잃어가며 문 닫는 교회들이 많이 생겨났습니다. 그러나 다른 한편으로는 코로나 시국을 거쳐오며 인터넷 선교 시대를 열어가고 있는 교회들이 많아졌습니다. 모든 분야가 급속히 바뀌어가는 때에 성경 말씀을 중심으로 붙들고 집중하면 시대를 앞서가며 살릴 수 있는 길이 열리게 될 것입니다. 

 

2. 비대면 인터넷 선교 시대가 열리면 많은 변화가 있을 것입니다.

 한국교회는 그사이 내 집 마련이 중요한 게 아니라 전도와 선교의 중심이 되는 교회당을 세우는 일에 주력해 왔었습니다. 믿는 우리들의 집이나 고향은 이 세상이 아니고 천국 본향이기 때문입니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 이 땅이 고향인 공중의 새에게도 집을 주시고 여우에게도 굴을 주셨지만, 자신은 머리 둘 곳 하나 없이 사셨던 완벽한 나그네 삶을 사셨습니다. 구약의 아브라함이나 이삭 같은 분들도 거부로서 성체를 구축하여 살 수 있었으나 평생을 장막에서 피 제사 제단을 섬기며 살았습니다. 그런데도 하나님께서는 가나안 9개국 중 최 강국으로 아브라함을 세워 주셨습니다. 

인터넷 선교 시대의 주역으로 한국교회가 귀히 쓰임 받기를 원합니다. 전 세계가 공히 가까운 이웃이 되어질 것입니다. 믿는 우리에게 이웃과 세상은 더 이상 생존경쟁의 대상이 아닙니다. 성도들은 하나님의 일에 동역하기 위해 세상에 잠시 남겨진 하나님의 종들입니다. 그리고 하나님의 일이란 믿지 않은 자들을 믿게 하여 그들도 구원받은 자가 되게 하는 전도와 선교의 일입니다. 그리스도인들의 삶의 목표는 자기 삶을 통해 복음을 널리 전파하는 것이기 때문에 이기적인 삶 대신 남에게 이익이 되고 도움이 되는 삶을 살라 하십니다. 남에게 유익 된 삶을 통해서 기독교인들을 비난하는 이방인들의 입을 막고 저들의 마음의 문을 열게 하는 것이 하나님의 뜻이라고 했습니다. 또한 하나님께서 세상의 질서와 흐름을 유지하기 위해 허용하신 사회와 나라의 모든 제도에 성도들은 순복하라고 권면하고 있습니다. 비록 국가나 지방 단체가 기독교인들에게 불합리하게 대한다 해도 그 국가와 사회의 법을 모범적으로 지켜나가라는 것입니다. 물론 우상숭배와 배도하는 일은 단호히 거부해야겠지요. 그래서 하나님이 허락하신 제도에 순응하되 하나님의 종과 같이 하라는 것입니다.

 

3. 성도는 모든 사람을 존중하며 하나님의 대사로 살라 하십니다. 

 성도는 신 불신 간에 모든 사람을 존중하고, 세상 왕과 권세를 존중하라고 권하고 있습니다. 하나님께서는 인간사회의 선악을 어느 정도 규제할 목적으로 국가 제도와 권력들을 허용하셨습니다. 사회가 건전하게 유지되도록 하신 하나님의 일반은총입니다. 그 안에서 같은 형제자매가 된 성도들을 내 몸과 같이 사랑하고 하나님을 경외하며 왕이나 권세 자들을 존경하라고 했습니다. 어떤 경우에도 남을 전도한다는 목표를 잊지 말고 그들을 대할 때 하나님의 종의 신분으로 대하라는 권면입니다. 이처럼 성도들은 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물이 되는 삶을 살라 하셨습니다. 기독교인들을 박해하는 왕이나 비방하는 모든 자에게도 성도들의 진실한 삶을 보이라는 것입니다. 그러면 비난하는 입이 다물어지고 마음의 문을 열고 복음을 받게 되도록 오히려 선한 삶을 보여주라는 것입니다. 성도가 좀 불이익을 당한다 해도 그 악을 선으로 갚아 낸다면 하나님께서는 그분의 능력으로 선한 결과를 가져다주실 것입니다. 우리 성도들에게는 이 세상과는 비교가 안 되는 새 하늘과 새 땅과 새로운 기업이 기다리고 있습니다. 돌아가시기 전까지 잠시 주어진 목숨을 사는 기간 동안 주변으로부터 칭찬받는 하나님의 종의 삶을 사시며 이 세상 살리는 일에 쓰임 받으시기를 바랍니다.

Elections Are the Sovereignty of the People, but the Church Must Pray.

 

 Looking back on the history of Korea for five thousand year, during the reign of King Dangun of Gojoseon, it was a country that guided and led the surrounding areas with the spirit of Hongik Ingan (To broadly Benefit Humanity). However, as the flow of dolmens that was used to give offerings to the heavens with Dangun faded, Korea eventually became the poorest country in the world and a cursed country. However, Korea began to change after accepting the gospel through Western missionaries. The ROK-US Mutual Defense Treaty after the Korean War was the best safety device given by God’s grace. After 70 years of division, the world has come to know the difference between North Korea, which pursued a policy of destroying churches, and South Korea, which advocated the entry of Christianity. Today, when we can easily guess what China, which is cornered by economic warfare, will do by using North Korea, which is on the edge of a cliff, South Korea is about to have another presidential election. The sovereign people will have to choose between Emperor Gojong’s choice and Syngman Rhee’s choice. In the meantime, there are many claims and evidence that the April 15 election and other elections were rigged. If it is revealed that there was rigged election, the National Assembly elections will also have to be re-elected. If they try to seize power by rigging the national election, this is already a great evil that is blocking the gospel and moving toward communist totalitarianism; so it is a subject that all believers must unite and pray for. However, we must keep in mind that Jesus, who is God, did not rebel against the warring state of Rome, the evil slave system, or Judaism that blocked the gospel, but only carried out the mission given to him well.

 

1. The flow of world history flows along with the flow of the spread of the gospel. 

 If the church does not realize that world history progresses centered on the spread of the gospel, a dark age of retrograde will arrive. We can guess this by looking at the history of the Jews or the history of medieval Catholicism. Since each of us lives a temporary life on this earth, we live as wayfarers and travelers, so we must focus on the gospel for the new heaven and new earth where we will live eternal life. How did Korea, which was one of the poorest countries in the world that lost its sovereignty, establish a new country and enter the top 10 GDP in the world? Many of the Joseon people who worshipped idols and lived in shamanism were saved by God's special grace and became God's children; and they established the church with dawn prayer, rice offering, Sunday school, and missions. Korea became the country that sent the most missionaries after the United States. Then, the dark spiritual forces penetrated the nation into become self-centered and even the churches to seek only their own benefits; and the era of the Covid19 pandemic arrived. Many domestic churches and churches in mission fields lost strength and closed their doors. However, on the other hand, many churches have opened up the era of Internet missions as we went through the COVID-19 era. In a time when all fields are changing rapidly, if we hold on to and focus on the words of the Bible, we will be able to survive and stay ahead of the times. 

 

2. When the era of contactless online missions begins, there will be many changes.

 The Korean church has focused on building a church that is the center of evangelism and missions, not on owning a house. This is because our home or hometown as believers is not this world, but heaven. Jesus Christ gave homes to birds of the air and holes to foxes, but he lived a perfect life as a wanderer, having no place to lay his head. Abraham and Isaac in the Old Testament could have built a castle for themselves as they were rich, but instead they lived their entire lives in a tent, serving the altar of blood sacrifice. However, God established Abraham as the most powerful tribe among the nine tribes of Canaan. 

I hope that the Korean church will be used as a key player in the era of online missions. The whole world will become a close neighbor. For us who believe, neighbors and the world are no longer targets of survival competition. The believers are God's servants who have temporarily remained in the world to work together in God's work. And God's work is the work of evangelism and missions that help non-believers believe and help them also be saved. The goal of the Christian life is to spread the gospel widely through their lives, so instead of living a selfish life, they are to live a life that benefits and helps others. God said that it is God’s will to shut the mouths of Gentiles who criticize Christians and open the doors of their hearts through a life that benefits others. He also urges believers to submit to all the systems of society and the country that God has allowed to maintain the order and flow of the world. Even if the state or local government treats Christians unreasonably, it is to follow the laws of the state and society in an exemplary manner. Of course, idolatry and apostasy must be firmly rejected. Therefore, we are to comply with the system that God has permitted, but to act as servants of God.

 

3. The believers are to respect all people and live as ambassadors of God.

 The believers are exhorted to respect all people, whether they believe in God or not, and to respect worldly kings and powers. God allowed national institutions and powers for the purpose of regulating good and evil in human society to some extent. It is God’s general grace that allows society to remain sound. In it, He said to love our fellow believers, who are our brothers and sisters, as our own body, fear God, and respect kings and those in power. In any case, we are exhorted not to forget the goal of evangelizing others, and to treat everyone with the attitude of God’s servants. In this way, the believers are told to live a life that is a holy sacrifice that God is pleased with. We are told to show the truthful lives of the saints to the kings who persecute Christians and all those who slander us. Then, we are told to display living positive and good lives so that the mouths that criticize us would shut and their hearts will be opened to receive the gospel. Even if the saints suffer some disadvantages, if we repay evil with good, God will bring good results with His power. For our saints, a new heaven, a new earth, and a new enterprise await, incomparable to this world. I hope that during the short period of life given to you before you die, you will live the life of a servant of God who is praised by those around you and be used in the work of saving this world.
