하나님의 자녀와 마귀의 자녀

 

불교계에서 공부를 많이 하신 중년 스님 한 분이 요한복음 1:1절을 가지고 하나님과 말씀과 태초 등을 화두로 설법하시는 것을 들었습니다. 원죄에서 벗어나지 못한 인간은 제아무리 공부를 많이 하고 똑똑해도 내가 누군지, 어디로 가는지, 인생의 목적이 뭔지 알 수가 없습니다. 그런데 원죄에 빠진 인간을 구원하여 주시고자 우주 만물을 창조하신 창조주 하나님께서 당신 자신을 계시하신 <창조주 하나님과 말씀이신 그리스도와 보혜사 성령님과 시공간의 시작인 태초>에 관해서 함부로 말하는 것을 들으면서 복음을 잘 말하지 못한 교회의 책임을 절감하였습니다.

 

1. 사람은 누구나 두 영역 중 한 곳에 속해 있습니다.

세상의 모든 사람은 영적으로 빛과 어둠 중 한 곳에 속해 있습니다. 처음에 창조될 때는 각 사람이 모두 빛에 속한 자(창세기 1:27 절의 하나님의 형상)였습니다. 그러나 아담과 함께 그 안에 있던 모든 사람이 마귀의 거짓을 붙들고 하나님께 반역하여(창세기 3:1~6절) 원죄 아래 빠져 영원한 지옥 형벌을 선고받고(창세기 2:17절) 마귀(어둠)의 자식(요한복음 8:44절)들이 되어 버렸습니다. 그래서 요한일서 3:10절에 “이러므로 하나님의 자녀들과 마귀의 자녀들이 나타나나니 무릇 의를 행치 아니하는 자나 또는 그 형제를 사랑치 아니하는 자는 하나님께 속하지 아니하니라” 하였습니다. 의(義)를 행치 아니하는 자란 우리의 모든 죄를 대신 지시고 십자가에 못 박혀 죽으신 하나님의 어린 양(羊) 그리스도를 구주로 영접하여 모시지 않은 자를 말합니다. 뜻글자인 한자의 옳을 의(義)자는 나 아(我)자의 머리에 양(羊)자를 올린 글자입니다. 내가 나의 주인이 되어 사는 자가 원죄 아래 있는 마귀 자녀이고 그리스도를 구주로 영접하여 모시고 사는 사람을 의인(義人)이며 하나님의 자녀라 합니다(요한복음 1:12절).

 

2. 아담 이후 인류 종말까지 사람이 구원받지 못하도록 속이는 세력이 있습니다.

아담 이후 그리스도 언약을 왜곡시키며 사람이 구원받지 못하도록 속이는 세력이 세상 임금 마귀의 세력입니다. 가장 먼저 속아서 동생 아벨을 죽이고 그 세력에 속했던 자가 가인이었습니다. 가인의 후예들이 점점 득세하여 홍수심판 전까지는 네피림 시대를 이루게 되었습니다. 홍수 이후 노아의 후손들에게까지 이 흑암 세력들이 침투하여 바벨탑 사건이 터졌고, 하나님께서는 아브라함과 다윗의 자손을 통해 그리스도께서 임하실 복음을 온 세계에 증거할 이스라엘을 세우셨습니다. 그리스도께서 구원 사역을 다 이루신 후 첫 주자로 복음을 맡은 초대교회 당시에도 거짓의 무리들은 기승을 부렸습니다. 당시 거짓 교사들인 영지주의자들은 하나님의 비밀스런 지식, 즉 영지(靈智)를 깨닫는 것이 하나님의 자녀가 되는 유일한 길이라고 주장했습니다. 이러한 영지주의자들의 신학과 비윤리적인 가르침은 당시의 그리스도인들을 미혹시켰습니다. 오늘날까지도 영지(靈智)를 깨닫는 것을 도통, 열반 등이라고 가르치며 명상이나 여러 과정을 통해 신접(神接)하게 만드는 단체들이 세계를 주도하고 있습니다. 이들의 결말이 구원이요 영생이라면 도와 드려야겠으나 대부분 신병에 시달리는 무당이나 그들의 자손들이 겪는 심각한 문제에 동일하게 빠지게 됩니다.

 

3. 그런데 이들을 건져내야 할 기독교회 또한 중병에 걸린 것 같습니다.

오늘을 사는 기독 교인들의 가장 큰 문제는 무엇이 죄인지에 대해 대부분 무지하거나 잘 말하지 않습니다. 그래서 죄를 짓지 말아야 하겠다는 자각도, 죄와 싸워 이겨야 하겠다는 결단도 윤리와 종교적 수준에 머물러 있습니다. 하나님의 형상대로 피조된 사람이 주인 되신 하나님께 반역하여 내가 나의 주인 된 것이 원죄입니다. 그런데 정작 교인들이 대부분 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 삶을 당연하다고 생각합니다. 이처럼 하나님을 향하여 반역하는 죄를 짓고 사는 삶이 지극히 평범한 것이 되어 버렸습니다. 자신을 우상으로 섬기며 살게 하는 것이 마귀라는 것도, 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 삶이 마귀의 종 된 삶이라는 것도 모르고 삽니다. 이처럼 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 자가 마귀의 자식이라는 사실도 모릅니다. 그 상태에서 나를 위한 종교 중 하나로 기독교회를 택하여 다니면서 “나는 예수 믿으니까 천국 갈 수 있다”라고 착각하는 교인들이 많습니다. 계속 자신이 주인 되어 살면서도 나는 예수 믿는다고 하는 것은 예수 그리스도 믿는다는 게 뭔지 모른다는 증거입니다.

 

교회는 신자들에게 원죄 문제에 대하여 더 많이 가르치고 경고해야 합니다. 자기 자신이 주인 되어 사는 것을 증오하고, 죄와 싸우는 일에 길들도록 어려서부터 죄와 싸우고 죄를 이기고 사는 법을 가르쳐야 합니다. 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 교인이 성화 되기를 바라는 것은 불가능한 일입니다. 천국은 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 자들이 들어갈 수 있는 곳이 아닙니다. 오늘날의 교인 중 과연 몇 퍼센트나 천국에 들어갈 수 있을까? 생각해 봐야 합니다. 나 자신은 마귀 자녀 상태에서 벗어났는가를 생각해 보아야 합니다. 인간의 근본 문제인 원죄가 무엇인지 알고, 하나님께서 주시는 새 생명의 씨인 그리스도를 구주로 모셔야 합니다. 복음을 듣고 예수 그리스도를 구주로 영접하면 그리스도의 성령께서 내 혼의 중심에 임하시는 것이 영원한 생명의 시작입니다. 그리스도께서 우리 각 사람에게 임하심은 마귀의 일, 즉 내가 나의 주인 되어 사는 일을 멸하려 하심이라 하셨습니다(요한일서3:8절).

어떤 사람은 자기는 하나님의 자녀도 아니고 마귀의 자녀도 아니라고 합니다. 그러나 중립은 존재하지 않습니다. 하나님께 속하든, 마귀에게 속하든 둘 중 하나입니다. 인간은 어느 한쪽에 속할 수밖에 없는 존재입니다.

Children of God and Children of the Devil

 

I heard a middle-aged monk who had studied extensively in Buddhism give a sermon using John 1:1 as a topic, discussing God, the Word, and the beginning. Humans, unable to escape original sin, cannot know who they are, where they are going, or what their purpose in life is, no matter how much they study or how intelligent they are. However, when I heard people speak carelessly about “the Creator God, Christ the Word, the Holy Spirit the Comforter, and the beginning of time and space” from the Bible in which the Creator God, who created all things in the universe to save mankind who fell into original sin, revealed Himself, I felt a deep sense of responsibility for the church that failed to preach the gospel properly.

 

1. Everyone belongs to one of two realms.

All people in the world spiritually belong to either light or darkness. Initially, when created, each person belonged to light (in the image of God in Genesis 1:27). However, Adam and all within him embraced the devil's lies and rebelled against God (Genesis 3:1-6), falling under original sin and condemned to eternal punishment in hell (Genesis 2:17) and becoming children of the devil (darkness) (John 8:44). So, 1 John 3:10 says, “By this it is clear who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor whoever does not love their brother or sister.” Those who do not practice righteousness (義) are those who have not accepted Christ, the Lamb of God, who bore all our sins and died on the cross, as our Lord and Savior. The Chinese character for righteousness (義) is made up of the character for sheep (羊) placed on the head of the character for self (我). Those who live as their own masters are children of the devil who are under original sin, and those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and live by Him are righteous and children of God (John 1:12).

 

2. From the time of Adam until the end of humanity, there are forces that deceive people to prevent them from being saved.

Since Adam, the forces that have distorted the covenant of Christ and deceived people so they wouldn’t be saved are the forces of the devil, the ruler of this world. The first to be deceived and kill his brother Abel, one who succumbed to that force, was Cain. Cain's descendants gradually gained power, establishing the Nephilim era until the judgment of the flood. After the flood, these dark forces infiltrated Noah's descendants, leading to the Tower of Babel incident. God established Israel, through the descendants of Abraham and David, to testify to the entire world about the gospel of Christ's coming. Even during the early church, which was entrusted with the gospel after Christ had completed his work of salvation, false doctrines were rampant. The Gnostics, false teachers of the time, claimed that understanding God's secret knowledge, or gnosis, was the only way to become God's children. The theology and unethical teachings of these Gnostics deceived the Christians of the time. Even today, groups that teach that attaining spiritual wisdom is called "Tao Tong" or "Nirvana" and that they enable spiritual connection through meditation and other processes dominate the world. If they actually lead to salvation and eternal life, we should offer assistance. However, most of them fall into the same serious problems faced by shamans and their descendants, who suffer from spiritual illnesses.

 

3. However, the Christian church, which is supposed to rescue them, also seems to be seriously ill.

The biggest problem facing Christians today is that most are ignorant or unwilling to speak clearly about what sin is. Consequently, their awareness of the need to avoid sin and their determination to fight and overcome sin remain confined to the ethical and religious realm. Original sin is the rebellion of humans, created in the image of God, against God, their master, and thus became their own master. Yet, most Christians think it is natural for them to live as masters of themselves. Living a life of sin and rebellion against God has become utterly ordinary. We live without realizing that it is the devil who makes us worship ourselves as idols, and that living as our own masters means becoming the devil's slaves. We don't even realize that those who live as their own masters are the devil's children. In this state, many believers choose Christianity as their religion of choice, mistakenly believing, "I can go to heaven because I believe in Jesus." Continuing to claim to believe in Jesus while still being the master of one's own life proves they don't understand what it means to believe in Jesus Christ.

 

The church must teach and warn believers more about original sin. From a young age, they must learn to hate being their own master and to cultivate the struggle against sin, teaching them how to fight against sin and overcome it. It's impossible to expect believers who live as their own masters to become sanctified. Heaven is not a place for those who live as their own masters. We must consider what percentage of today's believers will actually enter heaven. I must consider whether I have escaped the state of being a child of the devil. I must understand the fundamental problem of humanity, original sin, and accept Christ, the seed of new life given by God, as my Lord and Savior. When I hear the gospel and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit of Christ dwells in the center of my soul, which is the beginning of eternal life. Christ said that comes to each of us to destroy the devil's work, which is living as my own master (1 John 3:8).

Some people claim they are neither children of God nor of the devil. However, neutrality does not exist. We either belong to God or to the devil. Humans are beings who cannot help but belong to one side or the other.
