Leviticus 19
Be Holy in Christ (Leviticus 19:1-18)
Verse 2: “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”
Leviticus 19 is given after God gives the Word about the Day of Atonement and the regulations of blood, and after saying
that you should not defile yourselves. There are two important commands that we receive after becoming Christians.
One is “Love.” God wants His people to live a blessed life of loving God and loving their neighbors.
Jesus quoted verse 18, "Love your neighbor as yourself."
The other command is “Be Holy.” “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”
1. Holiness is the life of a believer living as an ambassador of Christ
1) Holiness is the life in which we thoroughly live as ambassadors of God in our respective lives.
2) Verses 3, 4, 18.
3) A life of honoring our parents, keeping the Sabbath, loving God, and loving our neighbors.
4) Holiness is shown as a life lived according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
2. If a believer is not holy, he is a hypocrite.
1) The core of the words given through Paul's letters is righteousness and holiness.
2) Rom 6:12-13.
3) The opposite of a holy life is a life led by the desires of sin.
4) The Lord Jesus, who is the true truth, sets us free.
3. The new life of those who have received new life is a life centered on the Lord
1) The new life of a Christian is a life of walking with the holy God.
2) The life of accepting and following Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savioris the life of Psalm 1.
3) Romans 6:22-23
4) The moment we accepted the resurrected Lord, our old self died and we became a new person.
Conclusion: You can be holy only if you become a person of Christ
1) After Romans 1-11, He commanded the new holy life of Christians.
2) Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God in Christ.
3) For this, He says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
4) Holiness is the appearance of life that results from living according to the "three things of today."
The Apostle Peter exhorts the people of God who are scattered in various places, being persecuted for their faith, as follows:
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” We are those who live according to the calling.
The One who called us is God. That God is a holy God. I pray that the words of our lips and the meditation of our hearts
will be acceptable to the Lord. I hope that our words, thoughts, minds, and actions will be renewed according to the Word
commanded in Leviticus 19 today. The way to become holy is to live holding onto the three things of today in the Lord,
and this is also to love God and love our neighbors. May God's holiness be revealed through your blessed life.
I bless you in the name of the Lord to become people of faith who reveal the glory and power of the Lord in the world
with a holy life that is always with the Lord Jesus Christ.
