Numbers 10
The Departure of Israel's Army and the Ordinance of the Silver Trumpets
(Numbers 10:1-10)
Verse 2: “Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out."
For nearly 400 years, Israel had been enslaved in Egypt. After the blood of the Passover lamb was applied, they departed from Egypt.
God called them the LORD's army. However, even upon their arrival in the Sinai wilderness, they were merely a disorganized rabble of former
slaves. These same Israelites, after staying in the Sinai wilderness for about a year, took on the appearance of the LORD's army.
There, they entered into the Sinai Covenant with God (Exodus 19-24).
Subsequently, they erected the Tabernacle, a symbol of God's presence (Exodus 25-40).
During that process, they received various sacrificial systems and fundamental laws (Leviticus 1-27).
Finally, upon entering the book of Numbers, they were organized into an army of over 600,000 and completed preparations
for the march (Numbers 1:1-10:10).
1. The final preparation was the making of silver trumpets and the method of signaling.
1) For their departure, today's passage (verses 1-2) instructed them to make two silver trumpets.
2) There are mainly two ways to send signals through the silver trumpets.
3) Israel's utmost concern was entering the land of Canaan.
4) The trumpets had to be blown by the priests, Aaron's descendants (verse 8).
2. What kind of trumpet should we, who are priests today, blow?
1) The beautiful praises in 1 Peter 2:9 NIV are precisely God's Word, the gospel.
2) Those who respond to the gospel can be saved.
3) From the church pulpit, the trumpet sound of God's Word resounds.
4) Therefore, we must live by holding onto the three things of today every day.
3. The personal evangelism field achieved through Moses
1) In verse 29, there is Moses' invitation to his unbelieving neighbor.
2) To Hobab, who refused, Moses extended an invitation once more.
3) Judges 1:16, 1 Samuel 15: 6.
4) In God's eyes, unbelievers are also people who are to be saved, just like us.
Conclusion: Moses' Proclamation and Prayer with the Ark of the Covenant
1) It is God, who is the Word, who guides the people of Israel.
2) God is now with the people of Israel.
3) We pray because God is with us.
4) We must carefully observe Moses' prayer in verses 35-36.
God is always with us. Therefore, when we pray, we confirm, ask, and thank God for fighting for us and protecting us.
So, we shouldn't think we're praying to a God who is far away from us. Because we are Christ's people and His children, God always protects us
and is with us. Therefore, we always call on His name and pray for His Holy Spirit to completely govern our soul, body,
and every aspect of our lives and situations.
Let us not forget that we are soldiers of Christ, always with the Holy Trinity, and let us live centered on the throne of heaven.
I bless you In the name of the Lord, you may live like Moses, enjoy the blessings of Immanuel and live as God's co-workers.
