Numbers 19

The Ordinance of the Ashes of the Red Heifer (Numbers 19:1-10)

Verse 2: “This is a requirement of the law that the LORD has commanded: Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without defect or

blemish and that has never been under a yoke.” (NIV)

Today's passage is recorded after the incident of Korah's rebellion, where tens of thousands of people were swallowed by the earth,

consumed by fire, and died from a plague. Humanity, having fallen into darkness, chaos, and emptiness due to original sin,

can only find the path to life by coming into Christ. However, even after entering into the covenant of Christ through the tabernacle

and blood sacrifices, if we are engulfed in rebellion, making ourselves our own masters like Israel, we inevitably fall back into darkness.

Therefore, in today's passage, God once again speaks of the ritual to restore lost purity.

1. The Purification Ordinance Through a Blameless Red Heifer

1) The red heifer prefigures Jesus Christ, who was not under the “dominion of sin.”

2) The water of purification made from the red heifer.

3) Only the offering of the red heifer purification law is an offering made for a future need.

4) This is for the atonement and purification of all of us who live in the future.

2. The Method of Purification Through the Ashes of a Slain and Burned Red Heifer

1) The difference between all Old Testament sacrificial laws and the red heifer purification law.

2) This signifies atonement outside the camp (city gate).

3) Under the Old Testament purification law, anyone who touched a dead body became unclean.

4) Along with Adam, all of us were beings fallen under original sin.

3. We All Must Realize That We Are Unclean.

1) Today's passage is declaring that everyone is unclean.

2) The starting point of faith is realizing the fact that we are unclean.

3) God provided a way to restore purity according to the purification ritual.

4) An unclean person transmits uncleanness.

Conclusion: The Ordinance of the Red Heifer Purification Given to Us Today

1) The ashes for purification are sprinkled upon the soul, the seat of thoughts and mind.

2) Only when uncleanness is removed can God continue to be present with Israel.

3) The Lord has provided for the water of purification to be prepared through YouTube's JesusFamily TV.

4) Today, the uncleanness of death often enters our hearts.

Dear beloved saints, just as the Israelites washed away their uncleanness with the ashes of the red heifer and became pure again to come

before God, so too can we, at this time today, be purified again by the red blood, the precious blood, and the grace of the cross of Jesus Christ.

There is no sin that cannot be washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. May our souls, defiled by sin, be thoroughly cleansed by the water

and blood of Jesus Christ. Without purity, we cannot stand before God. This morning, I bless you and me, in the name of the Lord,

that we may draw closer to God through Jesus Christ, our only Lord and Savior.
