The Ark We Must Board on

the Rough Sea of the World.

(1 Timothy 1:12-20)

The Ark We Must Board on the Rough Sea of

the World. (1 Timothy 1:12-20)

Do you know why people must receive salvation? Originally, human beings, who did not need to be saved, were created

in the “image of God.” (Genesis 1:27) They were beings who would live forever in the glory of God in the Garden of Eden,

governing all things as leaders of praise. But together with Adam, all people were deceived by the devil’s lie, rebelled in order to

become like God, broke the covenant of creation, were sentenced to eternal punishment in hell, and fell into the sea of destruction.

(Genesis 3) The image of God, meaning a being who lives with God, was distorted into the image of Adam, meaning me and the flesh.

(Genesis 5:3) Instead of living God’s life, each person came to live their own life once as a suspended execution period for eternal

punishment in hell. During this period, the one and only opportunity to receive salvation through Christ was given. (Genesis 3:15)

Therefore, every person comes to sail the sea of the world in the ship called “I,” in the age and region given to each person.

During that period, they can hold Christ’s hand and board the ark, the ship of salvation. When they board the ark,

they are re-created into the image of Christ and move toward the heavenly city.

1. Those who have boarded the ark are sailing the sea of the world toward the heavenly city.

Originally, human beings were created in the image of God and were beings who lived in eternal glory within the covenant of creation.

But they were deceived by the devil’s lie, became their own masters, boarded the ship called their own image, fell into slavery to the devil, and were thrown into the sea of destruction to live the life of the flesh. Nevertheless, God loved us and established the new covenant,

saying He would save us through Christ. (Genesis 3:15) He saves us from the sea of the world, causes us to board the ark, Christ,

and is re-creating us. We are sailing this world toward our heavenly homeland aboard the ship of faith, the ark, believing in Christ.

However, if we leave the ark of faith in Christ Jesus and transfer to our own personal ship, the misfortune of shipwreck will cover us

in an instant. That is why God gave us the secret to hold only to Christ and have victory to the end. God’s Word is the sea chart

and compass, and the Holy Spirit of the Lord is the Captain, so we must continue sailing within that.

2. The difference between the ship of my flesh and the ark in Christ

Sailing the sea of the world and going to the heavenly homeland is the life we live in this present age. The difference between sailing on

the sea of this world in the ship called “I” and sailing in the ship called Christ Jesus is the difference between two extremes.

Most churchgoers are living religious lives while doing their best in their own way to establish their own righteousness centered on

themselves. But we must know that the end of self-centeredness is nothing but an empty shell without substance.

Churchgoers who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior but still remain their own masters have little interest in the faith that is

in Christ Jesus. Such people are in the state described as, “Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish

their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” (Romans 10:3) In this way, the result of striving to establish my own faith will be

like Hymenaeus and Alexander, who left the ark and suffered shipwreck. Everything in which I ignored the Lord and acted as my own

master is sin. May you rejoice together with the truth in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

3. The Captain of the ark is the Lord Jesus, and we are navigators.

For us, who are being built into the image of Christ, missing God’s covenant is like a navigator throwing the sea chart and compass out of the ship. As a result, shipwreck is inevitable.

We must have faith and a good conscience that are united as one body with Christ. A navigator who has boarded the ark must look

only to the Lord, the Captain. When Christians abandon a good conscience and become attached to other things,

the misfortune of shipwreck covers them.

The soul, or conscience, of a Christian who has become a navigator of the ark is different from the conscience of people of the world.

The conscience of a person of the world refers to the conscience in a self-centered heart, but the Christian’s conscience refers to

the state of the heart that is Christ-centered and filled with God’s Word.

Conclusion: Always fight the good fight with faith that is inside the ark.

The good fight, the fight of faith, means the confrontation between the work of the flesh and the work of the Spirit. Our life is

a continuation of this fight. The flesh opposes the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit opposes the flesh, and while these two powers

restrain one another in our hearts and thoughts, our life continues.

The first condition of this fight is the fight to take off the clothing of self-centeredness and put on the clothing of Christ.

The self-centered person of the flesh hates the Christ-centered clothing of righteousness and does not want to take off

the sinful clothing of self-centeredness. Therefore, the fight of taking off and putting on appears as the good fight.

This fight is the fight to abandon my own opinion and bear the fruit of obedience to the Word given.

The Christian life itself is a battle and a fight. Paul teaches Timothy the weapon of this fight in 1 Timothy 1:18,

telling him to fight the good fight according to the prophecies, the Word given, that once pointed to him.

Until you arrive at the heavenly city, may you hold to the Word and have victory to the end.
