Exodus 16
Unleavened Bread Regulations that Removed Me-center (Exodus 12:15-28)
Today’s text is about the rules of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the first Passover. Passover is a holiday to remember
and never forget that although all people committed sins together with Adam and were sentenced to eternal punishment in hell, God loves us and saved us through Christ. God, who made and clothed the first people with coats of skin, is telling us to live
the life of the Feast of Unleavened Bread without forgetting that we have received new life through the bloodshed and death of
the Lamb Christ and the redemption through His death.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread was a feast celebrated for seven days, including the Passover. Only unleavened bread, bread without yeast, was to be eaten, and the first and last days were the Sabbath, so no work was to be done.
1. On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, remove yeast from the house (verse 15).
1) During the Feast of Unleavened Bread, they were to eat unleavened bread for a week.
2) The Feast of Unleavened Bread commands ‘thorough vigilance against self-centered sin.’
3) From Passover onwards, remove self-centeredness and live only by holding on to Christ.
4) Change your life from world-centered to church-centered.
2. After the Passover, Israel was called an army (verse 17).
1) The Israelites at the time of the Exodus could not be considered an army.
2) The reason Israel is called an army is because it will bring Egypt into submission.
3) In the same sense, our saved saints are all God’s soldiers.
4) What a soldier of Christ needs is to hold on to 3 todays and follow it.
3. Keep yeast out of the house during the Feast of Unleavened Bread (verse 19).
1) God emphasized the old habit of focusing on me through yeast.
2) Throw away your sinful life centered on yourself and hold on to 3 todays and walk with the Lord.
3) In one word, the regulations of the Feast of Unleavened Bread are ‘a holy life that strictly adheres to the three todays.’
4) You are to keep this as an ordinance, you and your descendants forever.
Conclusion: We must quickly change our worldly habits.
1) 1 Corinthians 5:7 clearly testifies about the Passover lamb.
2) He declared, “The old has gone; behold, the new has come!”
3) The life of the early church was a life of holding on to 3 todays and walking with the Lord.
4) We are no longer those who live according to the nature of our old self.
In this way, what yeast symbolizes is that even though we say we believe, we do not turn away from our own sin,
but we long for it and repeatedly live in sin. He said that if we live with yeast as is, we will be removed from the ranks of
salvation. Of course, we are saved through faith, but that faith must necessarily have an accompanying life. In other words,
a Christ-centered, holy life that is free from self-centered sin must be followed. Our basic goal as soldiers of Christ is to hold on
to 3 todays and walk with the Lord. As a co-worker of the Lord who moves the earth for the work of salvation,
I bless that you will hold on to 3 todays and be victorious every day.
