Passover Regulations, the Core of the Blood Sacrifice (Exodus 12:1-14)
Looking at Genesis 15:13-14, the reason Israel was enslaved in Egypt for 430 years was Abraham's incorrect sacrifice.
Today's text is a scene where God gives the Passover regulations to the children of Israel just before the Exodus.
On the evening of the 14th day of the month that God gave Israel as the first month of the year, they slaughtered a year-old
male lamb without blemish and put the blood of it on the sides and tops of the doorframes. That night, He made them eat
roast the lamb over a fire, and unleavened bread, with bitter herbs, with a belt around their waist, while wearing sandals
and holding a staff in their hands. And when they saw the blood of the lamb on the doors of the houses of the children of Israel, they were told to remember this for eternity because it would save the first-born child and the first-born animal from the disaster of death. These Passover regulations show that the blood of atonement is absolutely necessary for the salvation of sinners.
This is why God strongly emphasized the blood covenant when Moses set out for Egypt.
1. Make the month of the Exodus the first month of the year (verses 1-2).
1) It was an order to use a new calendar with the month of the Exodus as the first month.
2) Saints who are born again in Christ must live a new, holy life.
3) God wants a complete break with our old sinful life.
4) Just hold on to Christ and start a new beginning.
2. How to take the Passover lamb (verses 3-4).
1) This means that you should only eat enough food for your whole family to eat.
2) This clearly shows how reasonable God’s Word is.
3) He slaughtered sheep considering the people's situation and circumstances.
4) In this way, the word of God is given to us in a way that makes it easy for us to keep it.
3. Put the blood of the Passover lamb on the sides and tops of the doorframes (7).
1) Chapter 15 of Genesis says, “Abraham’s descendants will be slaves in Egypt for 400 years.”
2) Israel only had to put the blood of the Passover lamb to the sides and tops of the doorframes.
3) They could avoid God’s judgment by simply put the blood of the Passover lamb.
4) Anyone who abides in Jesus Christ will be saved.
Conclusion: Anyone who believes in Jesus as their Savior will be saved
1) Anyone who repents and accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior will be saved.
2) Everyone who wants to be saved must come to Christ.
3) There is only one way for a sinner to receive pardon and be saved.
4) Many people are trying to be saved through their own efforts and zeal.
Chapter 15 of Genesis says, “Abraham who slighted the pigeon blood sacrifice, his descendants will be slaves in Egypt
for 400 years.” God emphasized that man's fundamental problems are solved only through the blood of Christ.
1) The only way to completely defeat Satan and subdue him,
2) The only way to receive forgiveness of sins,
3) The only way to meet God is through the blood sacrifice of Christ.
God allowed the new day to begin through Israel's Passover, which only signifies Christ and His precious blood on the cross.
In verse 2, we are told to designate the month in which the Passover was celebrated as the beginning of Israel's history.
God wants time, history, and all life living within it to be newly introduced into God's order. The blood of Christ is so important
that Israel must be enslaved for 430 years to make them understand its meaning. That is how enormous the mystery of Christ
is as king, priest, and prophet. I pray in the name of the Lord that you may hold on to Christ and His precious blood
on the cross and achieve victory.
