Exodus 6.
God Uses What I Have (Exodus 4:1-17)
God called Moses as the leader of the Exodus. In 3: 12, God gives him a touching promise, “I will certainly be with you,”
and tells him to go to Egypt. But apparently Moses did not have courage. Exodus of over 600,000 Israelites who had been
slaves for nearly 400 years is an enormous task. So Moses tries to backtrack by giving God one excuse or another.
In fact, Moses' excuses can be seen as our excuses.
1. Moses’ excuses and pretext for God’s calling
1) Moses’ first excuse in Exodus 3:11 is ‘Don’t you know who I am?’
2) The answer given by God is, “I will certainly be with you!”
3) When Moses was 40 years old, he tried to help his fellow countrymen with his own strength, but failed.
4) Satan silences believers by instilling negative thoughts into them.
2. We just preach, but work is God's work.
1) Whether people listen or not, it is our responsibility to pray and sow seeds.
2) Like Moses, most people think, “I don’t have much to say.”
3) God wants to spread the gospel through us.
4) Prayer, evangelism, and missions are the things that please God the most.
3. God gives us strength when we evangelize.
1) God is responsible for the workers of the gospel.
2) Workers who work for their master receive wages (compensation).
3) Those who work before God will have everything they need added (Matthew 6:33).
Conclusion: God uses what I have.
1) God does not tell me to work with what I do not have.
2) He tells me to bring what I currently have.
3) God tells you to take what is in your hand now.
4) God wants to perform a miracle for Moses with this staff.
When David defeated Goliath, he did not go forward with a sword or spear. He headed towards the giant Goliath with only
the staff he used to herd sheep and a sling stone. When Goliath saw this, he asked, “Did you think I was a dog and came out
like a stick?” They laughed and cursed and shouted, “I will give your body to the birds and wild animals.” At this time,
David said in a loud voice, “You came out with a sword and a spear, but I came in the name of the Lord Almighty,
the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” He took a stone out of his bag and threw it at him with a sling,
and the stone struck Goliath. He was hit squarely in the forehead and he fell to the ground and died. David's victory was
achieved by throwing stones with his sling. Actually, how powerful is it? But behind it all, there is God who gives power.
Moses' staff was nothing more than a shepherd's staff. But when it is held in God's hands, it becomes God's staff.
Egypt now bows before the rod of Moses, the rod of God's power. Now, Moses' staff not only has the power to overcome
the idols and power of Egypt, but also becomes the staff that commands the Israelites. Moses offered the staff in his hand
to God, and it became a staff of power, a staff of miracles, and a staff of salvation that saved the nation.
I hope that you too will be victorious like Moses.
