Exodus 13.
Plague of Locusts and Plague of Darkness (Exodus 10:21-29)
God's punishment of the false gods of Egypt, which began with the disaster of the Nile River, has now extended to the highest
god, the sun god. God revealed the helplessness of the sun god ‘Amon Re’ through the disaster of darkness.
At first, when Moses stood before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, Pharaoh ignored the words of God that Moses had delivered
and said, “Who is the Lord, that I should listen to him?” In response to this, God punished all the false gods of Egypt with
his words and revealed the powerlessness of their idols, showing to all the people of Egypt, including Pharaoh,
that Jehovah is the only true god and the true God who rules over nature and human history.
1. The eighth plague, the locust plague (verses 1-20)
1) It continues seven times and the level of disaster is gradually increasing.
2) The reason for the many plaques was to make people realize that there is no other god besides God.
3) The children of Israel also had no clear experience of who God was.
4) The whole of Egypt is devastated by the locust plague
2. The ninth plague, the plague of darkness (verses 21-29)
1) In the case of Pharaoh, he confessed but had no intention of repenting.
2) We Christians are no different from Pharaoh today.
3) The ninth plague, the plague of darkness, follows due to Pharaoh’s cunning and refusal.
4) But wherever the children of Israel lived, there was light.
3. God, who created with words, works with words
1) Pharaoh keeps bargaining to change the word of God.
2) After the locust plague, God orders a plague of darkness without warning.
3) Although given nine chances, Pharaoh does not repent and stands before the ultimatum.
4) God used the Book of Exodus to clearly convey the way of salvation.
Conclusion: The way of salvation must be shared with everyone.
1) Our future generations must hear the gospel we have preached and enter the way of salvation.
2) Apostle Paul considered this knowledge of God to be the most precious.
3) We preach the way of salvation, but the work belongs to God.
4) Almighty God did not destroy Egypt all at once, but gave them a chance to repent.
John 1:1 says that God is the Word. Now hold on to those words, meditate on them, and move forward into a life of obedience
according to them. You will experience the powerful words of Almighty God. I pray that you live as a witness of Christ to those
around you.
