세상을 다스리고 살리는 자 (요 1:1-14)

 

세계는 지금도 경제난, 국내외의 심각한 갈등 등에 휩싸여 힘든 시대를 살고 있습니다. 사람은 자신이 주인 되어 살면 모든 상황의 종노릇 할 수밖에 없는 존재입니다. 부자는 많은 돈의 종노릇 하며 가난한 자는 적은 돈의 종노릇 하며 삽니다. 물 밖에 나온 물고기에게는 모든 환경이 고통일 수밖에 없습니다. 죽기 전에 물속으로 들어가야 삽니다. 고기는 물속에서 살도록 창조되었기 때문입니다.

 

1. 사람은 말씀이신 하나님과 함께 사는 존재입니다.

그런데 첫 사람 아담과 함께 모든 인간이 마귀의 거짓말을 붙들고 하나님의 말씀을 팽개쳐버리고 반역죄를 범하는 순간 영원한 지옥형벌이 자동으로 선고된 것입니다(창세기2:17). 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님은 우리를 사랑하사 그리스도를 통해 우리를 구원하시겠다는 새 언약을 체결해 주셨습니다(창세기3:15). 새 언약의 말씀인 그리스도 예수님을 구주로 영접하고 그리스도와 한 몸 된 삶(주안에 거하는 삶)을 사는 그리스도인이 되는 것이 모든 문제 해결의 길입니다. 그리스도인이 된 하나님의 자녀들은 주변의 다른 사람도 그리스도를 구주로 모시고 그리스도와 함께 살도록 도와주는 하나님 동역자의 삶을 살게 됩니다. 요한복음 1장 1절은 말씀이 곧 하나님이시오, 그 말씀이 육신을 입고 이 땅에 오셨는데(14절) 그분이 바로 예수 그리스도라고 선포하고 있습니다.

 

2. 그리스도인이 된 사람의 새로운 삶

그리스도와 함께 그리스도의 이름으로 사는 신앙인들은 세상을 다스리며 살리는 삶을 살며 영원한 면류관을 받게 됩니다. 그러나 교회당은 다니지만 내가 나의 주인 되어 내 이름으로 사는 종교인들은 인앙생활(사람 쳐다보고 사는 생활)하고 있기 때문에 세상의 종노릇 하며 다른 사람도 구원받지 못하도록 방해하는 삶을 살고 있다는 사실을 명심해야 합니다. 이처럼 교회당 안에 종교 생활하는 교인들이 많아지면 하나님의 구원 사역을 정면으로 방해하는 삶이 되기 때문에 그로 인하여 세상에는 더더욱 힘든 저주와 재앙이 임한다는 사실을 알아야 합니다.

하나님께서 내게 주신 말씀 붙들고 말씀 안에서 사는 성숙한 신앙인들은 아직 말씀을 잘 먹지 못하는 새 가족들과 후대들에게 받은 말씀을 젖으로 혹은 이유식으로 잘 요리하여 양육해야 합니다. 이게 되지 않으면 묵은 교인들이나 직분자들까지도 말씀과 함께하지 못하고 하나님의 동행하는 걸 잘 모르게 됩니다. 만약에 교인들이 말씀과 함께 하는 이 축복을 못 누리게 되면 실제 자기 삶의 현장과 교회 강단 말씀이 별로 상관이 없는 것입니다. 그 결과 교회는 다니지만, 하나님의 말씀과 함께 하는 걸 모르기 때문에 주변 사람들의 눈치나 이익 손해를 기준으로 살기 때문에 옳은 방향을 못 잡습니다. 누가 이 말 하면 이게 맞는가? 누가 저 말 하면 저게 맞는가? 갈팡질팡하는 것이지요.

 

3. 신앙인들이 가장 먼저 해야할 일

그리스도인들은 하나님의 말씀과 함께 하는 삶이 기본중에 기본입니다. 그러나 이 기본이 잘 안되기 때문에 먼저 정리하셔야 할 게 있습니다. 이제 그리스도인이 되었으나 하나님과 관계없이 살았던 시절에 잘못 각인 되고 뿌리내리고 체질 된 것들이 쌓여 있습니다. 이것들이 말씀과 함께 사는 삶에 굉장히 방해가 됩니다. 그래서 갈라디아서2:20절과 같이 실재 주인을 바꾸고 내가 나의 주인되어 있는 것들을 뽑아내야 합니다. 그리스도 예수님을 주인으로 모셨으니까 전에 주인 되어 살았던 나를 죽여야 합니다. 하나님을 반역하여 살았던 나를 위해 십자가에 못 박히신 그리스도와 함께 죽어야 합니다. 부활하신 그리스도가 나의 주인 되어 내 안에 오셨음을 인정하고 주인 바꾸고 새 생명을 살아야 합니다. 그래서 하나님의 말씀과 전혀 관계없이 내맘대로 살았었던 모든 요인들을 바꿀 수 있도록 기도하며 살아야 합니다. 이게 바로 교회를 통해 내게 주시는 말씀붙들고 사는 기본입니다.

 

결론: 오늘의 말씀, 오늘의 기도, 오늘의 전도를 붙들고 살면 모든 것이 달라집니다.

예수님을 구주로 모시기 전에 세상 기준으로 성공한 사람들은 뒤늦게 교회에 와서 복음 들어도 좀처럼 하나님의 말씀 붙들기가 힘듭니다. 본인이 믿음이 없어서가 아니고 믿고 싶은데 먼저 들어간 게 있어서 말씀과 함께 하는 게 잘 안 되는 것입니다. 만약에 이런 사람이 이게 바뀐다면 굉장한 일이 벌어집니다. 예를 들어 바울도 세상에서는 성공한 인물이었습니다만 이게 바뀐 것입니다. 그런데 복음이 확실치 않고 말씀이 제대로 정리되어있지 않으면 어떻게 됩니까? “나는 교회에 다니는 기독교인이 되었다”라는 사실을 가지고 종교인으로 세상에 나갑니다. 내가 나의 주인 된 그 상태 그대로 세상에서 살다보면 세상은 크고 어마어마하게 보입니다. 반면에 이 교회라고 하는 것은 아주 작고 구식으로 보입니다. 그러다가 큰 어려움이 오면 종교적인 수준으로 조금 매달리는 수준이지, 전능하신 하나님의 말씀과 함께 하는 걸 누리지 못합니다. 더 힘든 것은 예전에 이미 와 있는 영적 문제(하나님 없이 세상에 잡힌 문제)가 자신을 끌고 간다는 사실입니다. 우울증에 잡힌 사람이라면 우울증이 24시 끌고 가는 것이지요. 그러나 이런 사람이 하나님의 말씀 쪽으로 방향 잡고 정말 하나님과 함께하며, 받은 말씀 붙들고 써보고 읽어보고 암송하며 묵상하게 된다면 굉장한 일이 벌어지는 것입니다. 부여받은 시대와 현장에서 그리스도의 삶을 사시며 세상을 다스리고 살리는 하나님의 동역자 되시기 바랍니다.

Those Who Rule and Save the World. (John 1:1-14)

 

Even now, the world is living through difficult times, swept up in economic hardship and serious conflicts both at home and abroad. When people live as their own masters, they have no choice but to live as slaves to every situation. The rich live as slaves to much money, and the poor live as slaves to little money. For a fish that has come out of the water, every environment can only be suffering. It must go back into the water before it dies in order to live. This is because fish were created to live in water.

 

1. People are beings who live together with God, who is the Word.

However, the moment all human beings together with the first man Adam held to the devil’s lie, threw away God’s Word, and committed the sin of rebellion, eternal punishment in hell was automatically sentenced upon them. (Genesis 2:17) Nevertheless, God loved us and established the new covenant that He would save us through Christ. (Genesis 3:15) Receiving Christ Jesus, the Word of the new covenant, as Lord and Savior and becoming a Christian who lives as one body with Christ, that is, a life abiding in the Lord, is the way to solve all problems. God’s children who have become Christians come to live as God’s coworkers who help others around them also receive Christ as Lord and Savior and live with Christ. John 1:1 proclaims that the Word is God, and that the Word became flesh and came to this earth (verse 14), and that person is Jesus Christ.

 

2. The new life of a person who has become a Christian.

Believers who live with Christ in the name of Christ live lives that rule and save the world, and they will receive an eternal crown. However, we must keep in mind that religious people who attend church buildings but live as their own masters in their own names are living a life of “people-centered faith,” looking at people, and therefore live as slaves of the world and also live in a way that prevents others from receiving salvation. In this way, when many church members live religious lives inside church buildings, their lives directly obstruct God’s work of salvation. Because of this, we must know that even greater curses and disasters come upon the world.

Mature believers who hold to the Word God has given them and live within the Word must take the Word they have received and prepare it well as milk or baby food to nurture new family members and the next generation who still cannot properly eat the Word. If this does not happen, even long-time church members and church officers will not be able to be with the Word and will not properly know what it means to walk with God. If church members cannot enjoy this blessing of being with the Word, then the actual fields of their lives and the Word from the church pulpit have little to do with each other. As a result, although they attend church, they do not know what it means to be with God’s Word, so they live according to the standards of what others think of them or according to profit and loss, and therefore cannot find the right direction. If someone says this, they wonder, “Is this right?” If someone else says that, they wonder, “Is that right?” They waver back and forth.

 

3. The first thing believers must do.

Christians living with God’s Word is the most basic of all basics. However, because this basic thing does not work well, there is something that must first be sorted out. Now we have become Christians, but from the time when we lived without a relationship with God, things that were wrongly imprinted, rooted, and formed into our nature have accumulated. These things greatly hinder a life lived with the Word. Therefore, as in Galatians 2:20, we must actually change masters and pull out the things in which we have been our own masters. Since we have received Christ Jesus as our master, we must put to death the self that had lived as master before. We must die together with Christ, who was crucified for the self that had lived in rebellion against God. We must acknowledge that the resurrected Christ has come into us as our master, change masters, and live the new life. Therefore, we must live praying that all the factors through which we had lived however we wanted with no relationship to God’s Word at all may be changed. This is the basic foundation of living by holding to the Word given to us through the church.

 

Conclusion: When we live holding to today’s Word, today’s prayer, and today’s evangelism, everything changes.

People who succeeded by the standards of the world before receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior often find it hard to hold to God’s Word even when they come to church late and hear the gospel. It is not because they lack faith. They want to believe, but because something else entered first, it is difficult for them to be with the Word. If such a person changes this, tremendous things will happen. For example, Paul was also a successful person in the world, but this changed. But what happens if the gospel is not clear and the Word is not properly organized? They go out into the world as religious people, holding on to the fact that “I have become a Christian who attends church.” If they live in the world in the same state of being their own master, the world looks large and tremendous. On the other hand, the church looks very small and old-fashioned. Then, when great difficulties come, they only cling to it at a religious level and do not enjoy being with the Word of Almighty God. What is even more difficult is the fact that the spiritual problems that had already come before, the problems of being seized by the world without God, drag them along. If someone is seized by depression, then depression drags that person along twenty-four hours a day. However, if such a person sets their direction toward God’s Word, truly stays with God, holds to the Word they have received, writes it down, reads it, memorizes it, and meditates on it, tremendous things will happen. May you live the life of Christ in the age and field entrusted to you and become God’s coworkers who rule and save the world.
