Leviticus 23.
Grace and Mission Given Through the Feasts
(Leviticus 23:1-3, 39-44)
Verse 2: "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the Lord,
which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.’"
God commanded the feasts and said in verse 2, "These are my appointed festivals," that is, "the feasts appointed by God."
He put the things that God's people must never forget into the seven major feasts He commanded.
The most basic is the Sabbath regulation. The Sabbath is the day that God sanctified and set apart as a holy day after
creating the heavens and the earth, and commanded to be kept as the Sabbath.
The covenant to enjoy God's rest was the Covenant of the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
However, with Adam, all people committed original sin and fell into destruction.
Nevertheless, God established the Christ covenant and opened the way to rest.
The basis of faith is "to confess and thank God for being the Creator."
1. First, He Commanded to Observe the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread.
1) Verse 5 states, " The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.”
2) Passover is the day we become one with the Lamb of God.
3) In verse 6, the Festival of Unleavened Bread is a festival in which bread made without yeast is eaten.
4) 1 Corinthians 5:7
2. Next, He Commanded to Observe the Festival of Firstfruits and the Festival of Pentecost.
1) In verses 10b-11, the firstfruits refers to the first ripe fruits.
2) 1 Corinthians 15:20 tells us not to forget and commemorate this.
3) Fourth, it is to observe the fiftieth day from the Festival of Firstfruits as the Festival of Weeks.
4) The fiftieth day from the day of Jesus' resurrection is precisely the day of Pentecost.
3. After That, He Commanded to Observe the Festival of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.
1) Verse 24 of today’s passage refers to a special festival commemorated on the first day of the new year, when trumpets are blown.
2) This Feast of Trumpets, where trumpets are blown, symbolizes the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
3) The sixth was to observe the Feast of Atonement (verse 27).
4) He commanded them to announce the final judgment and preach the gospel.
Conclusion: Keep the Festival of Tabernacles and Place Your Hope in Your Heavenly Home
1) The fifteenth day of the seventh month is the Feast of Tabernacles, a seven-day celebration to the Lord.
2) This Feast of Tabernacles symbolizes the everlasting joy of heaven.
3) Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Firstfruits, and Pentecost have all been fulfilled precisely.
4) God has established seven feasts so that we never forget these things.
Now is the time of waiting for the Festival of Trumpets after the time of Pentecost of the early church has passed.
Through the feasts, God is clearly saying "what God has done for us" and "how God's people should respond and live"
to that grace. The basis of the feasts appointed by God is the Sabbath that continues every week.
The Lord’s day, the day the Lord, the owner of the Sabbath, was resurrected, is the day of the sacred assembly,
that is, the holy gathering in the New Testament era. This gathering is the day when everyone goes before God.
We must always remember that the Sabbath and the Lord’s day are the days when the body finds rest and the soul enjoys
the joy of salvation, and we must be able to keep Sunday, the completed Sabbath, more sacredly.
The cycle of the seven feasts is one year. What this symbolizes is our lifetime.
We reach the completion of salvation as we go through these seven feasts during our lifetime.
These seven feasts have been completed through Jesus Christ, and will also be completed in the future.
I pray that you will be victorious in the Lord.
