Leviticus 24
Always Offer a Holy Living Sacrifice (Leviticus 24:1-9)
Verse 8: “This bread must be set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites,
as a lasting covenant."
Leviticus 23 speaks of the seven annual festivals that the Israelites were to observe, and today's passage, chapter 24,
records the Word on 'holy worship.' The worship in Leviticus 24 refers to the worship of the priests.
The priests offered two kinds of worship. The five major sacrifices offered in the courtyard of the tabernacle can be called
'public worship.' However, the priest does not only offer public worship. There is worship that must be offered daily
and weekly before God in the sanctuary. This can be called 'private worship.'
Today’s passage is about the regulations regarding private worship. This is not a public worship that others can see.
The priest worships God one-on-one.
1. Priests Are to Offer Their Bodies as a Holy Living Sacrifice.
1) Priests are not only to worship publicly, but also to live their lives as worship.
2) As 1 Peter 2:9 says, we are all priests and a holy nation.
3) The fact that all believers have the office of priest has two important implications.
4) All believers have become ambassadors and evangelists for the kingdom of God.
2. The Life of Repeated Worship for Us Who Have Become Priests.
1) The passage shows the crucial importance of a life of repeated worship.
2) 2 Chronicles 13:11.
3) The twelve loaves of bread represent the people entrusted to us today for evangelism.
4) We must be faithful to our daily routine and the repeated task of changing and setting out the bread on the table each week.
3. The Most Important Things Are Accomplished Through Repetition.
1) Repetition may seem tedious, but it is crucial.
2) The same is true for our spiritual lives.
3) Leviticus 24 describes four pure things:
4) Pure oil, pure lampstand, pure table, and pure incense.
Conclusion: The Holy Living Sacrifice That a Saint Who Has Become a Priest Must Always Offer
1) He commanded us to offer our daily lives as a holy living sacrifice.
2) The path to God is given through the Word and illuminated by the light of the Holy Spirit.
3) Our most important relationship is with God.
4) How can our relationship with God be restored?
Leviticus 24 shows what the eternal covenant relationship between God and God's people is like through the image of
the always-lit lamp shining on the holy bread that is always set out. In addition to the blessed Word that God always
and eternally shines His face on His people, He also teaches us how terrible a sin it is to blaspheme and curse the name of God. These two things can be said to be the most characteristic differences that can distinguish between God's people and Gentiles.
God's people seek the light of God's face above all else, and regard it as the greatest blessing. Also, they regard the name of God as more precious and beautiful than anything else. I hope that you will always live before God, regarding God's holy name
as precious and beautiful. In the name of the Lord, I pray that you will fully enjoy the blessings of living a life of worship,
holding onto and enjoying the three things of today.
