Numbers 5.
Keep the Camp Holy (Numbers 5:1-10)
Verse 3: "Send away any man or woman who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind.
Do not let them defile the camp, where I dwell among them."
Israel became the army of the LORD at the same time as the Exodus. What God, who is King, required of His army was not
preparing good weapons or training to fight well. What God requires is the holiness and unity of God's people.
To this end, Numbers chapter 5 is about how the camp of God's army can be kept clean so that it is not defiled.
Verses 1 to 4 of today's passage speak of sending people who are considered unclean in the law outside the camp,
and verses 5 to 10 speak of how to atone for those who have committed sins.
Verses 11-31 set up regulations for resolving the problem of a husband's jealousy for the family community,
which is the basic unit of the military.
1. Regulations Concerning Unclean People within the Camp (Home and Church)
1) Because the holy God is in the midst of the camp, the camp must be holy.
2) Because all the people were a community that’s with God.
3) Of course, they did not have to remain outside the camp continuously.
4) The same applies to our camps, home and church.
2. Regulations Concerning Deliberate Sins as Soldiers of Christ (5-10)
1) Verses 1-4 deal with identifiable uncleanness, and verses 5-10 deal with inner uncleanness.
2) God did not tell them to gloss over what they did wrong to their neighbors.
3) All regulations are intended to make them voluntarily admit their faults.
4) The confession and action of Zacchaeus, the chief tax collector of Jericho, who met the Lord.
3. Regulations When a Husband Becomes Suspicious of His Wife (12-13)
1) Today's passage is about the regulations when a husband becomes obsessive about his wife.
2) At that time, 2 million Israelites were living together.
3) One cannot punish his wife based on suspicion alone.
4) It means that a man should not make hasty judgments and leave it to God.
Conclusion: The Word Given to Us Who Are Soldiers of Christ
1) Our battle is a spiritual battle with the devil and evil spirits.
2) The community where soldiers of Christ gather is the home and local church.
3) As soldiers of Christ, we must live a life that always enjoys Immanuel.
4) We must remove the unclean things in us that cannot be with God.
Today's passage teaches about the holiness and purity of the Israelite camp. This teaches how clean the community of God's
people must remain from sin. First, sin and wrongdoings must be confessed and compensated (5).
The devil's strategy to destroy the family, which is the basic unit of the wilderness community of Israel or our church
community today, is very advanced. Therefore, we, who belong to the church as soldiers of Christ, must consider
ourselves dead to sin and alive to God, and pray that we may achieve its holiness. If an army that must unite
and fight cannot trust each other and fights, that army will collapse on its own before fighting the enemy.
This passage gives us two lessons for us who live with the holy God.
First, strive to keep holiness, and second, strive to keep unity. I bless you to conclude only in Christ,
align your direction only with evangelism and missions, and be victorious.
