Numbers 7.
Offerings Presented by the LORD's Soldiers (Numbers 7:1-17)
Verse 1: When Moses finished setting up the tabernacle, he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings.
He also anointed and consecrated the altar and all its utensils." (NIV)
Numbers records the contents of organizing and counting the Israelite army, called as the LORD's soldiers after their exodus,
into respective units and providing them with basic training. Chapter 6 shows an example of voluntary dedication,
like the Nazirites, and today's passage, Chapter 7, reveals the important offerings and God's heart in receiving them in
a tabernacle-centered life. Chronologically, it follows Exodus 40, but it speaks about the most important tabernacle-centered life
and offerings as soldiers of the LORD. The essential reason why offerings are given in the worship of the church holding onto
the covenant of Christ is not because God needs money or to fill the church's finances. Offerings and dedication to God,
who has given us everything, become important worship in themselves.
1. Christ, Symbolized by the Tabernacle, the Center of Israel
2) The Greek word 'Christ' and the Hebrew word 'Messiah' are words with the same meaning.
3) Jesus is the prototype and fulfillment of the tabernacle, enabling us to meet God.
4) Christ is the supreme Commander of the LORD's army and the New Testament's army of Christ.
5) When soldiers of Christ hold onto the three things of today and go forth, the power of the heavenly throne is with them.
2. Consecrated Offerings from Each Unit of the LORD's Army
2) God does not want those who come to Him to come 'empty-handed.'
3) Dedication and offerings given to God are confessions of love abiding in Christ.
4) The contents and designated use of the offerings the tribal leaders presented to the LORD.
5) He commanded that these be given to the Levites for service in the tent of meeting, according to their respective duties.
3. Offerings Made Daily, One Tribe Per Day
2) God always values established order and scale.
3) He established a fixed position and order for each tribe, centered around the tabernacle.
4) The content of the tribal offerings, from the first day to the twelfth day, was identical.
5) Verses 84-88 record the total sum of the offerings and the animals presented as sacrifices.
Conclusion: The Lord Delights in Voluntary Dedication and Offerings
2) To build the tabernacle, the people voluntarily gave so much that there was more than enough.
3) 2 Corinthians 9:7 states, "God loves a cheerful giver." (NIV)
4) The tabernacle was a dwelling place to walk with God, who was among Israel.
5) Hebrews 6:10.
In today's passage, the same quantity and type of offerings are deliberately recorded twelve times repeatedly.
The Lord Jesus praised the offering of the poor widow who gave two small copper coins. In the Lord's sight,
He values the dedication and offerings of each one of us so dearly, accepts them, and through them supplies our needs.
God does not forget even our small services; He records them all. This is because they bring joy to the Lord.
We have received the great love of God the Father, been freed from worldly slavery, and become children of God.
Just as the Lord called Israel, freshly out of Egypt, to be the LORD's soldiers, so too has the Lord established us
as soldiers of Christ. What is required of us, who have been established, is faithfulness.
May you hold onto the three things of today and triumph daily.
