운명에서 벗어나 영생의 축복 속으로 들어오라

모든 사람은 영적 존재입니다. 그런데 문제는 영적으로 죽어 운명에 묶인 상태로 일생을 살다가 돌아가시는 것입니다. 그러나 감사하게도 주어진 단 한 번의 목숨을 사는 동안 운명에서 벗어나 영적 생명을 얻을 수 있는 유일무이한 기회가 주어졌습니다. 자력으로는 절대 불가능하므로 우주 만물과 인간을 창조하신 하나님께서 그리스도를 통해 구원해 주시겠다는 언약을 세워주셨습니다. 전도자와 성경을 통해 그리스도 언약 붙들면 영원한 생명이 주어집니다. 생명의 탄생은 참 신기하고 놀랍습니다. 특별히 만물의 영장인 인간 생명의 탄생은 신비합니다. 눈에 보이지 않는 아주 작은 씨앗에서 생성되어 각 사람의 인격체가 만들어진다는 것은 참으로 신기하고 놀랍습니다. 목숨을 사는 기간 동안 영원한 새 생명을 얻는 그리스도인도 마찬가지입니다. 영적으로 죽은 상태에서 목숨을 사는 사람들에게 하나님의 그리스도 언약이 심겨졌을 때 영원히 살 수 있는 생명이 주어진 것입니다. 갓난아이가 자라는 것처럼 영생을 받은 신자도 날로 성장해야 합니다. 목숨을 사는 육신도 음식과 호흡과 운동 등으로 성장하는 것처럼 영생을 얻은 사람도 자라야 하는데 성장 과정은 다음과 같습니다. 

1. 목숨을 살았던 이전 것들은 버리고 신령한 젖을 사모하라

베드로전서 2 : 1절에서는 먼저 “모든 악독과 모든 기만과 외식과 시기와 모든 비방하는 말을 버리라”라고 말합니다. 그리스도인의 성장은, 세상의 악한 것에서 하나님의 거룩함으로 나아가는 것입니다. 악에서 하나님의 거룩하심으로 바뀌려면 성경에 기록된 진리의 말씀이 필요합니다. 영원한 새 생명도 “너희가 거듭난 것이 썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니요 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것이니 하나님의 살아 있고 항상 있는 말씀으로 되었느니라” 하셨습니다. 이제는 교회를 통해서 주께서 주시는 말씀을 먹으며 자라야 합니다. 에베소서 4:15 절에는 “범사에 그(예수 그리스도)에게까지 자랄지라” 하셨습니다. 하나님의 말씀에 대해 신자가 가져야 하는 자세는 “갓난 아기들같이 순전하고 신령한 젖을 사모하라”라는 것입니다.

 

2. 자라면서 그리스도와 함께 하나님의 신령한 집으로 세워져 가라 

베드로전서 2:5절 말씀에 “너희도 산 돌같이 신령한 집으로 세워지고 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드릴 거룩한 제사장이 될지니라”하셨습니다. 세상의 건물도 든든한 기초 위에 돌이나 벽돌 등을 쌓아 올려서 건축합니다. 하나님의 신령한 집인 교회는 직접 살아계신 반석이 되어주신 그리스도 위에 그리스도와 하나가 되어 산 돌이 된 성도들이 연합하여 지어져 갑니다. 그래서 성경은 보배로운 산 돌이신 예수께 나아가 하나님의 신령한 집으로 세워져 가라고 말씀하십니다. 살아계신 그리스도의 반석 위에 산 돌들이 된 성도들로 만들어진 신령한 집은 너무나 든든히 서로 하나가 되어 있어서 무너질 수 없는 기적의 집이 되어 갑니다. 이처럼 산 돌이 되어서 하나님의 신령한 집으로 세워지면서 자연스럽게 되어지는 일이 이 집에 새 가족들을 불러들이는 제사장으로 쓰임 받는다는 것입니다.

 

3. 그리스도를 믿는 자들의 정체성과 사명

베드로전서 2:9절은 4가지를 말씀하시는데 “택한 족속, 왕 같은 제사장, 거룩한 나라, 하나님의 소유된 백성”이라 하십니다. 하나님은 노예 된 이스라엘을 출애굽 시키시고 시내 산 앞으로 불러 모아서 “만일 너희가 하나님의 말씀을 잘 듣고 주님과 맺은 언약을 지키며 살아가면 너희들을 하나님의 ‘소유된 백성’, ‘제사장 나라’, ‘거룩한 백성’으로 삼아주겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 하나님의 백성이 되는 조건이 무엇입니까? 하나님과의 언약을 지키는 것입니다. 하나님께서 직접 모세를 통해 언약의 백성으로 훈련하셨던 게 광야 40년 기간이었습니다. 구약시대 모세를 따라 애굽을 나온 이스라엘 백성들은 오직 하나님의 언약을 지켜야만 하나님의 참된 백성이 될 수 있었습니다. 그래서 우리에게도 갓난아기들같이 순전하고 신령한 젖을 사모하라 하신 것입니다.

하나님께서 우리를 구원하신 이유는 “이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러내어 그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 자의 아름다운 덕을 선전하게 하려 하심이라” 하셨습니다. 이 ‘아름다운 덕’이 바로 ‘예수 그리스도의 복음’입니다. 하나님은 믿는 자들이 입을 벌려 온 세상에 주님의 복음을 선포하도록 세우시고 그 열매로 영원한 면류관으로 삼아주시기 위하여 믿는 자들을 당신의 소유된 백성으로 불러 주셨습니다. 전도는 산 돌(The Living Stone)이신 예수 그리스도와 한 몸 되어 산 돌(a living stone)이 된 성도들이 임마누엘(하나님이 우리와 함께하심)의 축복을 누리고 있으면 되어지는 열매입니다. 이처럼 전도는 ‘소수의 특권이 아니라 모두의 삶’입니다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 아름다운 덕, 곧 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전파하는 것이 하나님께서 우리를 당신의 소유로 삼으신 목적이기도 하기 때문입니다. 

 인간의 모든 삶은 하나님의 손안에 있고, 하나님의 주권과 섭리 속에 있습니다. 우리가 이 사실을 깨닫지 못하면 현재 당면한 문제와 불확실한 미래로 인해 불안할 수밖에 없습니다. 그러나 주 예수 그리스도로 인하여 우리의 모든 문제는 완전히 영원히 해결되었습니다. “아니, 그러면 현재 나의 문제와 불안한 문제는요?” “주 예수께 온전히 맡기세요. 그리하면 그 문제를 통해 하나님의 하시는 일을 보게 될 것입니다(요한복음 9:3).” 그러면 나와 함께 계신 예수 그리스도의 증인이 될 것입니다. 이걸 되어지는 전도라고 합니다. 자기 머리와 능력을 의지하여 사는 사람은 늘 염려가 많고 힘듭니다. 그러나 하나님이 주인이심을 믿고 의지하고 순종하면 그 삶이 평안하고 가장 복됩니다. 그게 신앙입니다.

Escape from Fate and Enter into the Blessings of Eternal Life

 

Everyone is a spiritual being. But the problem is that they live their lives spiritually dead, bound to fate, and then pass away. But thankfully, there is a unique opportunity to escape fate and gain spiritual life during the one life given to us. Because it is absolutely impossible through one's own power, God, who created the universe and mankind, established a covenant to save us through Christ. If you hold onto the Christ covenant through evangelists and the Bible, you will be given eternal life. The birth of life is truly amazing and wonderful. In particular, the birth of human life, which is the leader of all things, is mysterious. It is truly amazing and wonderful that each person's personality is created from a tiny seed that isn’t visible to the naked eye. The same is true of Christians who gain eternal new life during their lifetime. When God's Christ covenant is planted in people who are living their lives spiritually dead, they are given the life to live forever. Just as a newborn baby grows, a believer who has received eternal life must grow day by day. Just as the flesh that lives its life grows through food, breathing, and exercise, so too must a person who has gained eternal life grow, and the growth process is as follows.

 

1. Abandon the former things that you lived by and desire spiritual milk

1 Peter 2:1 first says, "Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind." The growth of a Christian is to go from the evil of the world to the holiness of God. To change from evil to God's holiness, the Word of Truth recorded in the Bible is needed. Eternal new life also says, "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God." Now you must grow by eating the Word that the Lord gives through the church. Ephesians 4:15 says, "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." The attitude a believer should have towards God's Word is to "crave pure spiritual milk, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good."

 

2. As you grow, be built together with Christ into a spiritual house of God 

1 Peter 2:5 says, "you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." The buildings of the world are also built by stacking stones or bricks on a solid foundation. The church, which is God's spiritual house, is built by the saints who have become living stones united with Christ on Christ, who has become the living cornerstone. Therefore, the Bible tells us to go to Jesus, the precious living stone, and be built into a spiritual house of God. The spiritual house made of saints who have become living stones on the rock of the living Christ is so firmly united with each other that it becomes a house of miracles that cannot be destroyed. The thing that happens naturally as you become a living stone and are built into God's spiritual house is that you are used as a priest to bring new families into this house.

 

3. The identity and mission of those who believe in Christ

1 Peter 2:9 speaks of four things: "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession." God brought the enslaved Israel out of Egypt and gathered them before Mount Sinai and said, "If you listen carefully to the Word of God and live by keeping the covenant you have made with the Lord, I will make you God's 'special possession', 'a priestly nation', 'a holy nation'." What are the conditions for becoming God's people? It is keeping the covenant with God. The 40 years in the wilderness was the period when God directly trained them to be people of the covenant through Moses. The people of Israel who came out of Egypt following Moses in the Old Testament could only become true people of God if they kept God's covenant. That is why we are told to crave pure and spiritual milk like newborn babies.

The reason why God saved us is, "that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." This 'wonderful praise' is the 'gospel of Jesus Christ'. God has established believers to open their mouths and proclaim the Lord's gospel to the whole world, and has called believers to be His special possession in order to make them an eternal crown with its fruit. Evangelism is the fruit that is achieved when saints who have become one body with Jesus Christ, the Living Stone, and have become living stones, enjoy the blessing of Immanuel (God with us). In this way, evangelism is 'not a privilege of the few but the life of all'. This is because preaching the beautiful virtues of God, that is, the gospel of Jesus Christ, is also the purpose for which God made us His own possession.

 

All of human life is in God's hands and in God's sovereignty and providence. If we do not realize this fact, we cannot help but be anxious about the problems we currently face and the uncertain future. But through the Lord Jesus Christ, all our problems have been completely and eternally solved. "No, then what about my current problems and anxiety?" "Entrust them completely to the Lord Jesus. Then you will see God working through the problem (John 9:3)." Then you will become a witness of Jesus Christ who is with you. This is called evangelism that naturally takes place. People who live by relying on their own heads and abilities are always full of worries and difficulties. But if you believe, rely on, and obey God as your master, your life will be peaceful and most blessed. That is faith.
